Has anyone ordered from gettington.com? They have Ichabod Crane from Department 56 and I want to order it, but don't know if they are reliable.

Hi Night Owl:
I'm the general manager of Gettington.com. We are a newer site, but, we are a legitimate company. You should feel comfortable placing your order. If you have any issues, please let me know.

Hopefully I didn't come across as too stalkerish. But, I'm a customer fanatic and like to answer questions that anyone has about Gettington. I noticed that you are from Plymouth, MN. I'm in Chaska. How about the temperature today, Yikes!

I couldn't freaking believe it! -17 and it's supposed to be the same tonight. We have a party to go to and I'm just hoping the truck starts. lol Yesterday we put salt in the pantyhose to put on the roof but, it's even too cold for that to work. Last night the roof sounded like it was going to explode with all the cracking and popping. lol

I hope you make it to your party! I've never heard of salt in pantyhose for the roof. What is that supposed to do (not that it worked in this temp). Today is a great day for staying inside and keeping warm!

Ty. The salt is put into womens panty hose. Then you tie off the waist and put a couple knots in each leg so the salt doesn't run down to the toes or split the seams. They don't need to be completely full, just enough to make it look like summer sausage. lol Then put them up on the roof with the waist area the highest point and then run the legs down like someone is actually wearing them. Have the toe area just at the edges of the roof and pointed down. This way when it gets about freezing in temp the salt works against the ice dams and makes a channel in the roof for the melt. The salt also gets into the gutters and opens them up. It really helps getting the ice dams open and the ice off the roof. We have been using it for years. Just regular water softener coarse salt or sidewalk salt. Don't have it hanging over trees or bushes since the salt will be there in the spring. It can be flushed out of the soil but, I wouldn't want any major plants sucking it up in the spring. We use one about every 10 feet or so.

Well, my order arrived Saturday. I was pleased with the price and the quick delivery. The box the item came in was unharmed and the merchandise undamaged. However, to let you know Paula, the outer box it was shipped in had been opened (in fact, no attempt was even made to reclose it and the postman marked it "received open") and the packing material I assume was in it had been removed. It must have been a postal worker and I am guessing they were searching for credit card info.
But, the figure of Ichabod is really cool and will go perfectly with the miniature Sleepy Hollow I am creating.
