I borrowed a prop from my mom made by Tekky Toys. It worked so well scaring kids on Halloween that I had to run out and get one the next day. I found one at halloween usa and bought it. Today I was testing the couple of new things I bought before storing them until next year and the Tekky Toys item didn't work. It had no power to it at all with two different brand new battery sets. I called them and to my surprise they were extremely helpful. So although the prop didn't work straight out of the box Tekky Toys customer service was excellent.

Lurching Vampire from Tekky Toys –
11-09-2010,03:00 PM
Tekky Toys has some cool stuff but their customer service sucks. I've been to their contact us page twice and sent 2 emails. One to sales email and the other to support with no response. Their "Lurching Vampire" is really amazing. It is over 6 ft high an awesome face and a lurch that even scared me when I knew what he was suppose to do. Unfortunately, he worked only about 20 times and the plastic gears do not engage to get him back upright. Does anyone here have any suggestions since I'm not getting anything from the manufacturer?
Thanks for you responses.

Communication has been made –

Yesterday, I received a couple of very nice emails back from Tekky Toys. They are looking into the product problem and making changes for next year. I've been put on a list to get some resolution to this situation. I'm very happy with this solution and look forward to hearing back from them later.
If you think calling them is a better solution than using their contact info they provide on their website I don't mind chatting with this creative group. Thanks for your reponse.

When I had an issue last year I called them and they were very nice, helpful, and sent me out a replacement the next day. Sometimes calling works better than email it just seems to depend on the company.
Glad they answered your emails and are working to correct it.

Don't know about phone, but their email support sucks. They promptly auto-respond with "We did receive your inquiry, please be patient, and someone will respond within 48 hours." Well, we're going on 4 days now, Halloween is almost here, and I still haven't received a response. It's simple: if you can't respond in the promised time frame, then DON'T promise it! Support these days is crap in general, and I guess Tekky Toys is no exception.

I can imagine how bad support is during the Halloween season. In the future, you might want to buy products earlier and work out the kinks as it's F'n nuts during the month of October for these companies.
Regardless, Tekky is a tiny company in Chicago, IL.
Judging from the LinkedIn website, I only see 7 (past and/or present) employees working there. Obviously that's not the entire company, but often times you can determine the size by it's employee representation on the LinkedIn website. The president (Jamie Wirt) is listed. Perhaps you can email him. It's not too hard to figure out email addresses these days.
I'd imagine they have less than 100 employees for sure. Perhaps less than 50 employees.
