Perhaps it depends on your credit card company?

In any case, Tom, I'm working on looking into your charge and I'll let you know what I find in email.
That's not the case - recent activity does not show up online until it actually charges it. Yes, restaurants, hotels, car rental companies will authorize MORE than the amount due to tips, extra charges. Authorizations never show up to the card holder online - the reserved amount is held out of the "available funds" but they will not see that. When they see it - that means it's been charged. At a restaurant - as soon as you put the tip on there and the restaurant has closed their batch - then that amount including the tip is charged - the rest drops off. What you see on your credit card activity is always the final amount charged. Also, restaurants, and those types of places have very specific merchant accounts set up to allow that extra authorization. Retailers have different merchant accounts.

We used to run an exotic rental car company which is how I know - especially regarding that type of account. Also, we also used authorize.net - which I saw is who Hauntedprops uses as their gateway company.

So in retail, if they are seeing the charge - it's charged.

Larry, I give you some credit coming on to this forum and offering to straighten things out for everyone, but so far everything you've said has been untrue...

Disintegr8or your stuff shipped... not true...

We don't charge credit cards until stuff ships...
In my case this was totally NOT true I had to threaten Joe that I would report Hauntedprops.com to the BBB before he agreed to refund.

Also you can't have it both ways, Larry - "I will fix all problems"...
then when you get called out on something... "I'm only the web designer"....

Dealing with hauntedprops.com is like dealing with a used car dealership with all the trimmings that come with it - shady salesman, misleading advertising, bait/switch tactics, and vague answers, etc...

Maybe this is adding fuel to the inferno that is burning here, and if so I apolgize, but sorry, I just can't sit here and listen to all the lies being said without commenting...

Hi.. I am certainly trying to fix problems, but I think what you are referring to as "fixing all problems" is that I will fix these things going forward once I am in a position to fix them. For now, yes I am only the web designer trying to help catch up with past problems. I've been very open with the fact that I can not "fix" any problems because I just don't have that level of control right now. What I am trying to do is help you guys bypass the pages of incoming emails and get answers from the warehouse much faster than you otherwise would. I can't personally vouch for the answers I get, because I'm not there to verify them. Starting in 2009, I will be. So if you feel there's at least been some value in dealing with me then you can feel confident that you'd have somebody on your side in the future should you choose to try us again. If not, of course that is understandable. But just like a new coach coming into a football team, things are going to change and for the better. I think most of you understand that, and I'd like to think that those of you who have contacted me know that I'm at least trying to help you. There are certain other posters who I am no longer posting responses to because I am certain they are competitors and not real customers. I also think any reader of this board can tell that is true based on the tone and detail of the posts, just as I can, and I am hoping that the rest of you are discerning enough readers to pay them no attention.

That said.. if you were charged before your order shipped, you should not have been. If it happened to one or two people, I definitely apologize for that and I'm looking into why that would have been. But it is true that it is not our policy to do so. I didn't tell disintigr8or that his order shipped - in fact, the only time I spoke to him was today via email. I told him there I would try to verify if it had, and I have requested they look into it for me. I am waiting to hear back now.

I actually have some time tomorrow, so I am going to take a ride to the warehouse to specifically help those of you who have emailed me from this message board. This way I won't have to wait for responses on anything, I can actually hopefully look these things up myself. Today would be the best time to contact me and I'll make a list of everybody that has for when I go there. If anybody here has an order in stock that isn't shipping, I'll ship it myself if I have to. If not, I will let you know for certain what the status is.

It saddens me that an online merchant is having so much issues.

Applause to you Larry for attempting to help. It is odd that Joe himself is not here to handle the problems.

While it is great that this thread can help solve issues, keep in mind that personal attacks on other members CANNOT be tolerated.

Please be constructive with your posts. Be honest.

    Thanks.

I hope you guys do get things straightened out, but for me it's too late. Like I said i'm just glad my order was small and I don't have to deal with that company again. The whole process dealing with them was terrible and I never did receive an email response about my order from before I found this website and this thread. If you were someone I had bought something from on Ebay my feedback left for you guys would have been terrible and well deserved. So although I hear people saying Joe is a good guy I haven't seen many people joining in on this thread saying what a great experience they've had with hauntedprops. Even with the modifications you plan on doing to the website Larry the customer service sucks.

Thank you for your note. While I'd love for Joe to be able to come on here himself, the vast majority of our issues are based on slow delivery so I am certain everybody would prefer that Joe help ship rather than post on a message board. He has asked that I keep trying to help everyone on here, knowing that I do not work in the warehouse and there is no design & marketing to be done at this stage of the season (which is my normal job). I am doing my best, which will definitely be much better than it has been when I get to the warehouse tomorrow. Thanks again for your input!

Got part of my order- the cheaper items that I wasn't worried about. I'm still pending three items, but I did receive another shipping email, so hopefully those are the last three.
    The ones I REALLY want.

    (fingers crossed)

    Fright Time

I apologize for the personal attack and the Johnny Fairplay grandma reference, I was way out of line and Larry is right, that should never be tolerated. I am sure you take great care of your own customers and feel that you would never do what HP is doing. However, I don't think it looks good for any other vendors to post here unless you also ordered from Joe and are similarly frustrated. I feel that the correct self promotion on this forum would be through becoming a sponsor and buying ads on the forum. I also believe there is an area on this forum for people to sell items, promotion belongs there, not here on this thread. I am personally offended by people constantly using these threads to sell something, I see it too frequently. I put my name on the no call list, disdain solicitors calling me at my home disrupting my dinner, and I similarly don't want to participate in a forum full of profiteers.

Now, Joe owes me an item I ordered back in July, and if I had a dollar for every time he has told me it was shipping out that week I would no longer need to worry about my 401k. I found out in September that the Mexico factory experienced a fabric/material shortage on the item I ordered, I told Joe this 3x, yet he keeps insisting it will be shipped out next week, then the week after that, then the week after that. Joe, your obsession with surpassing Nightmare Factory in sales without any regard for customer service is a recipe for disaster. If you focus first on being the best seller of Halloween items, becoming the biggest will take care of itself, not the opposite way around. Joe, everyone on this forum wants to pay less for Halloween items, however, we do not like to feel that pressing the order button on your website is the same as pressing the button on a Las Vegas slot machine, where sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Joe, the truth shall set you free. Tell your customers exactly where they stand, then do your best to correct the problem and take the steps and put oin the controls necessary so that the problem never occurs again.

Awwww, I can feel the love.

*whispers* Well ... maybe not for Joe ... or for Larry. I mean, everyone still wants to form a lynch mob and hunt THEM down. But on the upside Fright and jgc made up.

    LOL!

Back on topic, did anyone receive anything from HP today?????
