Look CM, I do understand. We didn't get everything in time for our party and I'm not even sure everything will be here before Halloween. One of the Creature Reachers we did get is missing the costume so it's basically unusable unless HP comes through soon.

We hold our haunt for just the one night but we put out props and such starting the week before, so I'm disgusted too but really ... what can we do????

If you are suggesting that I call the BBB and report Joe right away, all I can say to that is no ... for now anyways. He said he would make it right and I have to give him a chance to make it right. He has about 14 days until I start start setting up my haunt. Hopefully he'll come through.

(And if not, there's still that RV trip. LOL!)

    Creatureman -

Has your credit card been charged? If it has and when - might help determine if your stuff has been shipped. I know mine wasn't charged until the first shipment went out. Of course I didn't get the right shipment, but that's all been resolved since. If you have been charged and enough time has gone by (5 days I would think), then file a dispute with your credit card company. Then go to a company where you still can get the product in time for your haunt.

If this is really a haunt you rely on for income, I wouldn't be sitting around waiting - I'd act fast to get the stuff from somewhere else. Write a formal email to Haunted props regarding canceling your order.

If your card has not been charged - I would still do the same thing. Make the order elsewhere, write a formal email to hauntedprops canceling the order, then keep an eye on your credit card to make sure it does not get charged. If the product comes anyway, don't open it and tell them they need to send you call tags to pay for the shipping so they can get it back.

There is some point a reasonable expectation regarding your order and how long ago you placed the order and your remedy to be able to cancel it and go elsewhere. Put everything in writing - and keep it professional.

We had an incident a few months back regarding my husband's eye doctor. He had the exam, ordered the contacts (paid for them) and then we never heard from the doctor. When he would call - voice mail. He finally stopped by and there were lots of excuses about his guy up front not putting order in, having to fire him, blah, blah. Said he'd order them and they'd be in in a week. Still nothing after 2 weeks. Finally called insurance and they set up him being able to go get a whole other exam elsewhere and order the contacts. We filed a dispute with the credit card company.

After 2 months from the original order he finally called and said they were in - we said, so sorry, had to go elsewhere. He needed to see!!! So it really didn't matter that he EVENTUALLY got he contacts in, at some point, it doesn't matter.

Just my two cents. You have more leverage once the card has been charged. Companies DO NOT want to get chargebacks.

    Creatureman..

I am still offering to help everybody, including you, however you have never sent me a request for information or anything. I would like to help you, but the fact that you are claiming you were charged for your order months ago and never received it (which we do not do), leads me to believe that either there was a mistake (which I could correct if you contact me) or that you are not actually a customer but perhaps a competitor. You seem to be the most upset about your order on this board, however you are one of the only posters who has not contacted me to try to fix the problem. I would take the initiative and look into your order, however I do not know what you ordered, when you ordered it, your email, your name or anything else I can use to look up your order. Please email me and I will make my best effort to straighten this out. Thank you.

My card was charged the instant I placed my order. It doesn't show up on the online summary, but if you call your CC company, it will be there in pending. At least mine was.

Credit cards are authorized by the charging company at ordering time. So the money is 'reserved' for about 2 weeks. If your order ships in that time, then the authorization is captured, and it appears as if it was charged at ordering time. However, if it does not ship within that time, then the authorization expires and it vanishes from your credit card statement. This is standard procedure in any sales environment; in fact there is no other way to do it. The card has to be authorized in order for the CC company to store your information for later capturing. If you believe that this was not the case with you, and that you were actually charged without your products shipping, then I'd be glad to look into it for you if you email me so you can privately provide me your information.

I do know often times customers think they were charged, when it was actually just an authorization. As a customer myself, this has happened to me and unfortunately the CC company tells you that there is no way for them to differentiate between an authorization and a charge. The only way to tell is that the authorization will drop off in 2 or more weeks (depending on the CC company) if it is not captured.

If the charge though is showing up on someone's online account as recent activity, and they are seeing it - then it has charged. Credit card companies can't always see where an authorization comes from if you call in. They can tell you amounts.

That may be, I'm not sure. Although I do know that I've gone to restaurants and let's say the bill is $80. They will authorize your card to cover the tip for something like $110. Then if you give them a $15 tip, it will still show up on your credit card online activity as $110 until they capture the correct total, at which point it will change to $95. Perhaps it depends on your credit card company?

In any case, Tom, I'm working on looking into your charge and I'll let you know what I find in email.

Hey Larry, what's the word on the Bat Creature Costume and the 6 ft. hanging prop?
