I purchased 2 sets of led's. 1 set always on red and 1 set of always on green eyeball led's from FrightDesigns.com both are 9 volt. The quality of the wirinng is very nice and the bulbs are bright. Now i know that you can build these yourself with a couple of parts from the shack. But for the quality and the price plus fast shipping make these (for me) a good deal. Plus i like to support other haunter when i can.

The Radio Shacks in my town are now out of the gizmo business. Which means I will never go again. They only sell stereos and such, but seem to mostly into cell phones now.

The point is... I don't mind paying for assembly now since I don't get the joy of picking up crap from the store to 'engineer' something...

I think all of the Rat Shacks are headed that way. Their parts selection has been dwindling for the past 5 years or so. It seems like every time I go there to get something, the parts rack is smaller. Last trip in, it was down to one half rack of drawers. The store employee said more was coming in, but in light of the direction they're going in, I just don't believe him.

I agree, Z-F. When radio shack first started it was geared toward HAM radio enthusiasts. It was very much a niche (and geek) store. But the merchandise they sold also benefited other hobbyists. As years have passed, the HAM radio hobby focus has dwindled and so has much of the demand for diodes, capacitors and the such. RS has set their aim on simply electronic gadgets, from RC cars to cell phones. The electronic components have fallen to the wayside, and we as haunters, as well as many others, will be left without a reliable resource for such items. I don't know about anybody else, but around me there is no place to buy boards, diodes, etc. other than radio shack. That's one edge RS has over "box" places.

I agree with all you guy's, beside's the left-over's at RS, there's only a few places on the internet that I know of where I can get certain raw componet's for electronic's. It's turning into a big mission to find any good places and even more so with good price's.

Sounds like a business model for a savvy entrepreneur with Hong Kong connections.

That would be a "buy big" and hope it sells.
