I know the owner of FC is a member here and used to come on periodically. He would graciously address any problems people had with his company/orders/etc.. Seems this has changed. One thing I found with FC is that their prices are almost always consistantly higher than many other vendors. I guess this is a good enough reason not to do business with them, coupled with their tactics regarding the "club membership."

Americans sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I remember Mark being on here quite a bit for awhile, and he was always pleasant. What's weird is that the profile says the last date of activity was 10/29/2011. Too bad that the company has gone down the hole...

I made a phone call and told them I wanted to cancel. I have not gotten the new credit card bill, so I don't have proof of the charge being removed, but the gentleman was very cooperative and nice. I didn't have a problem talking to them or asking for it to be cancelled.

    I'm happy , so far.
Always scarying the YELL out of them.

    Hey, Creeps.

I only recently noticed the billing on my card for this. I went online and tried to cancel (thought I HAD cancelled) but the charge still appeared a month later.

After some research, I found this thread, a number of complaints about them to the Better Business Bureau (where they have an F rating), among other details.

I emailed them asking them to delete my account, and they replied with an email telling me all the BS benefits of being a member.

I'm going to be doing a story on CreepyLA about this and their tactics, and will quote from this thread. I also wanted to encourage anyone who has had a problem with the "Fright Club" or FrightCatalog to email me at creepyla@gmail.com or tell their tale on this thread directly.

    Thanks!

Hey CreepyLA - Sorry that you were not happy with your membership. I am sure that if you talked to Shawn your membership has been cancelled. Just a couple notes on your post.

We do not participate in BBB. Hence an F rating. If we paid them we would be instantly moved up but we do not take part. We've been around for over 10 years and we feel like we do a pretty good job with customer service.

When you order the catalog and haunt kit you are enrolled in the club. It says it on the page and in the very brief TOS that you check off when you sign up. If you don't want to be part of it all you have to do is call and cancel.

I can say that we have alot of people that are really happy with it. We give away a cool item every month. We have great interviews with haunt / Halloween industry people. Members get a special discount. Every month we drop the price of an item by up to 60% for members only. There are also how-to's, screensavers and tons more content.

So if you are not a serious Halloween fanatic the club may not be for you. People that shop alot with us get a huge benefit by taking part. Again sorry you were upset.

Sorry, I'm not paying $124.83 a year to save less than that & to be one of hundreds maybe more to possibly win something. Google & this forum are more useful.

He's right about the info though, it's in a big red box on the right when you click for "more info."

I believe that you got an F because you did not respond to complaints, not because you did not pay them.

Many complaints sent to the BBB is not necessarily fair to the company, so the BBB normally sends a letter to the company and allows them to dispute the complaint. If your dispute has merit, the complaint is not counted against you.

Most of the companies that I have worked for did not pay the BBB and did receive a few complaints each year. We always responded so we maintained an A.
If you pay them and do not respond to complaints then you will still get an F. (just my opinion based on working with them).
