you are welcome. the ring is held up by tension. that 1st swag you put up will pull it to one side, that is why the next swag needs to be opposite from the one you just did...it will pull the ring back the other direction and suspend it. so remember to leave a little room for it to be pulled back the other way...i learned that the hard way. i am going to do a permanant fabric ceiling in my bedroom this way. i love the look! good luck with it!

thanks ELH for the compliment. It was a favorite space of mine this year. The secret - an embroidery hoop...the part that comes apart obviously. You put it around chandelier/ceiling fan etc. and then tie tulle to it. Literally, I just knotted the tulle around it. Make your canopy and then using thumb tacks where you want it to drape - secure it. I did let it hang and gather the ends with ribbon and attached balloons and ornaments. Oh yes, you must do the opposite swag from the place you start so that the tension will suspend the hoop above the light source or fan. I than did the 90 degree angles and filled in the rest. Just play with it and you will get the feel. My other advice is definately buy your fabric in the off season because they run out fast in October...had to make many trips to different Joanns. your decor is awesome. How did you hang the different colored tullle from the ceiling and them coming down? I saw something like that on hgtv but didnt pay attention and yours looks so good!
