My rudimentary drawing of the first build I am going to tackle this year. I think I am a better builder then an artist! This was just an example of how my drawing turned into one of my facades. But it turned out like this so hopefully the next one will be fine. :(

Ishwitch, it's wood stakes and plastic chains that we nailed them together.

Bang for the buck, I would say Los Angeles!!! There is so much cool stuff. Not sure about first week, but there are tons of haunts and yard haunts!!! I won't go on vacation that time of year because there is WAY too much fun stuff here. Halloweentown and cool events.

Oh and for sure with the gauges and dials on my super secret prop after the steam garage is done. The steam garage is the setting for the prop I am most excited for this year!!! Lots of dials, gauges and lights on that one for sure. I am so excited I might start it before I make the garage facade!!!!!

So I did google "steampunk Batman" and I am super inspired. I don't think I am even remotely talented enough to dream I could do a steampunk Batman costume justice. I am definitely not a costume guy. However I wish I could incorporate it into my theme if I was able to create one. Gotham is always an inspiration for me when I think of my yardhaunt though. I dream of making my work more gritty but steampunk at the same time. I hope to achieve that with the facade I am about to start, which will...

Holy crap! That would be an awesome costume!! A steampunk Batman? Whoa cool idea. I actually use Gotham as inspiration but it ends up looking cheerier when I make stuff. I want to be more gritty in the future.

That is a good question. I would like to sound like I am organized and technical, but to be wholly honest, its all still sitting in the garage. I have some reinforcements in town visiting so it will possibly get stored up in the rafters of the garage while I have some help. That way I can get started on phase 2(and park a car in there as well). I built the panels to store flat. It actually is not that bulky when broken down. This is an example of a single panel. They are 4 foot wide...

This year, I plan to make the biggest cemetery I can, taking over 3 front yards. In the Garage, the wicth house this year. I might try to built a huge tomb surrounding my front tree. Here is a few from a few years ago, to give you an ideal, I got aroud 75 tombstones, If I recall. We never had the chance to display them all... JM

Thanks! Great ideas. For sure going to add more steam! Been researching new fog machines. I did have a grate and pipes with steam in 2014. The grate was above the door of the clocktower.

Last year (2014) I was able to pretty much finish "phase 1" of our yardhaunt! A few small details didn't get done but for the most part I got the big pieces finished. We are going with a steampunk theme. There is a clocktower, storefront, boiler and crates.

We are expecting more kids this year. We were somewhere in the 100 to 200 range. That was because we are brand new to the neighborhood and to be honest most people didn't quite understand what was going on. Set up will start 2 weeks in advance this year so that will help. Also we will be running Friday night as well so that might increase traffic.

You can right click on the page you want and choose print target. You could also use the print screen function on your laptop. I just did it and it worked fine. -Z

I had forgotten till I heard some music from the soundtrack the other day, but Playstation had Medievel and Medievel 2 - they had great layout, music, and scary/Halloween theme to it. If I remember correctly, the storyline was a zombie/skeleton knight or something.....I remember my ex playing it for hours when he first got it, & I didn't even mind cause I liked the atmosphere & music of it....

Sorry, been off the computer for a week (& I'm having some problems with the app on my phone)...... Anyways, I saw some Halloween crafting supplies in the clearance section - some scrapbooking supplies (which I didn't get 'cause I don't scrapbook) & some clear stamp designs - the kind you can interchange on that clear block - which I did get but can't find now. In the middle of redoing the spare bedroom/supply closet, so it's probably in a wrong box or something...... There was also a...

    Nice work on the beloved!
  2. I used iMovie. The best advice I can give is that the animation was programmed to start right at the same time as the music track. For me the tricky part was when I added to the animation, I had to be very careful about the sync.

I too am trolling for assistance. vkidwell and i seem to be in the same boat. I actually synced my pumpkins up, adding about 5 seconds of extra frames because the music and mouth movements were off. I would dabble with it and figure it out on my own but I have so much more to do, asking for help just seems easier. Any suggestions? I used windows movie maker to "attempt" to sync mine up. (epic faluire!)

My husband and I LOVE the Singing Pumpkins. I am sure you are sick of talking about that project, but I would like to do this for our haunt this year. I have the song, and will be paying and downloading the video. We are very interested in how you had them sit there for a few minutes before they start? Alo if you have any guidence on how to sync the video and song together we would appreciate it. We are beginners at the whole video thing. Thanks for your help!
