I've used Monster Mud to help change up the texture of plywood: A link to that tutorial: http://www.halloweenforum.com/blogs/terra/892-painting-faux-metal-tutorial.html Also have made some sturdy metal-like items using cardboard:

Glad you like the Lazy Susan idea. On the head one I had installed a long, thick screw in the center of it and her head is on it like a spike. Later on I needed a base for a horse's head that had PVC for a skeleton and so that's why you also see the two PVC bases. Those easily screw on or off. For the full sized one there is a metal pipe threaded base and the dummy has a metal pipe as a spine. So, she just threads on or off. Hopefully you see that in this picture of the two bases in storage:

Well, I dunno if Fright Props would not admit they had a problem. I find they are really helpful in trouble-shooting. Couple of years ago I had a faulty regulator - they sent me another one and that one was faulty. After we talked they realized they had gotten a whole batch of faulty regulators and got me a working one from a different batch quickly. They were great through that whole situation.

Great idea for a thread - that umbrella frame stand is brilliant and the PVC painting one as well. Here's my two: There is a Lazy Susan on that head stand which allows me to turn the head as needed. You can also make them bigger to hold an entire prop dummy:

Hello and welcome :) I was thinking that if you place your collection under a cabinet than you could get an under-cabinet fluorescent light fixture and replace the bulb with a fluorescent one. In addition - or alternately you could repaint some key parts of the collection with fluorescent paint. I love WildFire and they sell little kits of it: RSHD4www.blacklight.com/items/WF170005KT

Nothing cooler than having your costume glow - great idea. Hope you don't mind - I edited your post to embed your video. You use the Filmstrip icon in the dialog box for that.

Dug through my pictures to hopefully show a close-up of the stone-like effect you get using Drylok. Tea-staining and drybrushing really come alive using it:

Thanks Undertaker. I agree with you that the strength of Drylok is amazing. In a way it seems to harden the foam almost as if it got a light coat of foam hardener. Been using these Steel Beams for many haunt seasons and because they are 8' long they are constantly being banged into a wall, ceiling, etc. during transport and the damage I get is isn't on the beams but to the to the wall, ceiling etc. it hit... heh.

You all are a hoot, lol. Basically, Ryan nailed it. First heard about Drylok when reading a tutorial about using it instead of Monster Mud. Thought Beloved would look better thickened up more with Monster Mud and then painted with Drylok. The gallon at the store was already tinted gray and was happy to discover that it was the perfect base color for a cemetery stone. Then... I drybrushed it. MAGIC! Instantly, Beloved looked like true stone with the white drybrushing highlighting all the...

I learned it is a lot less stressful if you give a heads-up to your Reapee that their gift is en route. They can prepare, if necessary to receive it. This way the package can be left on their doorstep for only a short while (worst case) instead of being thrown back onto the UPS truck due to lack of signature and the possible mashing that can happen back at the UPS delivery hub again, then back into another truck... etc. etc. It's still a surprise because they don't know what they are getting...

Your idea sounds like a lot of fun and should work fine. I did a slightly different take. The room I was in was so small that I placed a decoy dummy dressed exactly as I was but right in the center of the room. They of course saw that. Then I pounced :)

It has been a sheer joy to see the stone become a main part of your haunt this year. Always worry when they are being designed that it's what the Reapee had in mind. Looks like I got pretty close. The new details just make your whole scene that much more spooky and scary for a ToT to wonder into the Voodoo temple. What a hoot!
