That does look like a sea sponge to give that dappled effect. Yes, you can tint Drylok darker. Either just use some black artist's paint or bring it back to the paint counter and ask them to do it.

Ah, now I see how those are done. Super impressive and that artistry of the dragon head is amazing as well. Hope you don't mind but I embedded the video for you. You use the filmstrip button in the posting box.

What an awesome thread and perfect timing. Just had gone through my parents pictures last week and found a picture of a tiny Terra: My mom made this costume. The broom is sewn on the robe and just had to pretend to hold it ;)

I use the PL300 foam board adhesive for the PVC channels but Glidden Gripper (both sides) for the flat surface of the foam board itself. You see - if there is air then the foam board adhesive would work (great for the PVC channels) but when I used to carve into the flatter sides of the board I would discover that it never dried and gunked up my carving tools. That's why I switched the Glidden Gripper for that area. I just tried sanding the two sides of the board before gluing with Glidden...

Reapee - your tombstone build scared the hell out of me today. Tried a completely new technique and needed a damn drink afterwards to calm the nerves but thinking it's gonna be great. You are worth it :)

This whole thing was a surprise for me but also I must stress that I'm okay with it. It got to be quite the conversation over at Facebook so I crafted this reponse which encapsulates how I'm feeling about the whole thing: https://www.facebook.com/terra.lair/posts/787169324656079 My view of Grandin Road and my version of Beloved: I am not upset but probably not for the reason most would think. Years ago thought long and hard about what it means to hit the 'publish' button for my...

Thanks all. Love that workshop too. When we told my friends that I was making one of the bedrooms a workshop they were like, "Whaaaa?" Hey, Reapee - did a lot of productive work on your stone so far. Here's a hint for you - your theme for the stone is something I never would have come up with on my own without your 'likes' list ;) Exotic...

The pipe that Fright Prop uses is actually a metal pipe like the kind you get at Home Depot.

It's 4 feet long and the air pressure depends on how vigorous you want them to wiggle. I had mine dialed pretty low so they didn't beat you to death and didn't over-tax my air compressor because I had 4-6 other props running off my 20 gal compressor (poor thing). I can't exactly remember the psi but it was probably around 30-60. Looking at Fright Props looks like they may have gone to softer tubing but I'd even go further and try surgical rubber tubing perhaps:...

Air whips are notorious air hogs so it's important to have just as many air whips in the unit that you need. How many or what use are you thinking for it? Here's the one I bought from Fright Props years ago: If it is going to hit the legs of the ToTs think of the little ballerinas that go through and use soft rubber whips instead of these plastic ones.
