When possible (if other stuff in the schedule doesn't get in the way), I try to have decorations up the whole month of October. If not that, then most of the month. Sometimes I will see people putting stuff out slightly before October, and I really admire and envy those people.

I like the package design. But is it TOO creepy? Should it have a little more color, so it doesn't seem so grim? I get picky about that stuff sometimes.....

People call him "The Godfather of Gore". You may not like his films! But if you've seen any, you know they are difficult to forget.

And here is that cat shark monster that's been giving people so much trouble down at the pier. You probably read about it.

I do really like vintage Halloween collectibles. Of course, that sort of thing can be expensive, so to save money, for the most part I just collect pictures of things, because it's really the graphics themselves that I enjoy, the artwork. For real value, I enjoy some of the many books on Vintage Halloween Collectibles (by Pamela Apkarian-Russell, and so on) because for a fairly low price, that kind of book can offer a whole assortment of images of old cool things, and descriptions, plus it is...

This is my Halloween makeup from 1991. This was for a Halloween party in Encino at the home of a makeup artist friend that I worked with on TV shows and things. This is mostly a prosthetic face, of foam latex appliances, including a rubber mouth and lips. If you look closely, you can see my real mouth, painted black (so you won't see it much), behind the sculpted rubber lips. The prosthetics cover most of my face, but my cheeks, nose, and eyes are my own (there are big stylized eyelids,...

This is my Halloween makeup from 1991. I wore it to a Halloween party at the house of another makeup artist, and there were a lot of makeup artists there, and so I tried to make this good, hoping to impress everybody. It did not work out quite the way I was hoping! This was a foam rubber prosthetic makeup that I called "the Kabuki Demon". I even bought a big fluffy black rock star wig to make the whole effect weirder and wilder still. That Halloween I was working of several prosthetic...

This is the first time I've seen the term. But I kind of like it. I would say that "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein," "13 Ghosts" (the original 1960 film) and the "Monsters Crash the Pajama Party Spookshow Spectacular DVD" are all SPOOPY. And since I like those 3 things, you might say I like spoopy things, according to your definition of this term. :)

I am not an expert on this topic, more of a beginner, really. Dealing strictly with left/right stereo (the original or "actual" stereo) --There is also the so-called "phantom speaker effect," which is the illusion of a "phantom center channel" if the sound is coming equally out of the right and left. By varying the volume levels of a sound coming out of both speakers, the illusion of multiple positions, and even panning, can be created.

I come from a movie/TV background, where often schedules and budgets are very small. I've found a lot can be done with paint--ESPECIALLY when it comes to zombies. A few dark and light colors are all you need for the basic look. You can even get by with some "Clown White" and some "Black", by just mixing some darker and lighter grays you can create all kinds of impressions of depth and shapes. You can bring the "shape" of a skull out by highlighting (the parts that stand out) and shadowing...

I think that's very scary what you have there, the monster wearing the green shirt. Nice makeup application! Very frightening.

Some people may have seen the "Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides" movie, which features some beautiful (but dangerous and violent) mermaids. Not a bad film, I thought...not my favorite in that series, but I could easily believe that it could be dangerous to tangle with a mermaid.

I've never even seen mermaids done in a Halloween exhibit, so the idea of doing some is pretty interesting. The idea of a skeleton mermaid--or an evil seductive one with hypnotic eyes--is really good too. My mind automatically imagined the "Fee-jee" or Fiji Mermaids, those fairly small, sewn-together assemblages of fish tails and wood carvings used in very old circus shows to "prove" the existence of real mermaids. I always thought that was clever as the upper bodies of these creatures...

Oooh that does sound like fun! I spent today spray painting the blue onto the skirt for my Corpse Bride costume and practising the make up - was much fun
I saw the Rob Zombie remake of Halloween the other day, which actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be! I' recently got hold of 30 Days of Night but haven't watched it yet, and am off to see Batman at the cinema next weekend I think.. that's about as close to monster movies as it gets for me at the moment lol!
How about you? Any recommendations? I found something in one of the shops here in Brighton that I know you would just love - it's a pack of Classic Horror Movie Monster playing cards and they are fab! I was lucky enough to receive them as an xmas present from my secret santa - I don't even use them to play with, I just love looking at them xxx

Hey there Mister, good to see you round these parts! I was thinking of you the other day when I found the "Trick or Treat" card you sent me in that wonderful parcel of presents last year! How the devil are you? Hope you are doing well and looking forward to this year's festivities! xxx

    The Black Cat (1934)
Hey man - it's The Black Cat -

Peter Allison: I don't know. It all sounds like a lot of supernatural baloney to me.

Dr. Vitus Verdegast: Supernatural, perhaps. Baloney, perhaps not. There are many things under the sun.
