Thank you very much!! I will look for it!!! I appreciate the help! Quick update - Gatordave is a bonehead..... I just googled it to see what it looked like and realized I have one in my workshop...never thought to use it on foam......
Well, since you called me wise It's called a Stanley SureForm Shaver and I got it Home Depot in the tool section. It's usually used for woodworking. If you want to get even smoother use regular sandpaper or other sanding tools afterwards. Hope that helps
Hey Terra, quick question. On your tombstone videos I see you using some type of scraper or hasp like tool to shape the foam. Is that something you bought and if so where or is it something you created in the Terra lab?? I have the dremel and wood burner, but want to get more of smooth shape when forming. Any advice O Wise One?
Thanks for your input! I agree on keeping the lights "on". Love the tentacle prop tutorial! Thanks for sharing it. I may look into finding those since I have the pirate theme going.
Ah, a little Pink Floyd in the vid I vote for the eyes staying on. The blinking was a bit distracting for me. Love the way the other lights look a lot. They certainly look like fuses and cannon fire. This stone is gonna rock for sure. It's a pleasure to make those tut videos Not sure if you saw yet but just made a new one today:
Thanks Terra. Still playing with the lighting. I was hoping for the "cannon effect" but it looks like internal cabin lights instead. Will check around for some other twinkling lights. Not sure if I want to keep his eyes flashing or just "on". Here are two clips, lights on and lights off. By the way, all of your pictures and tutorials are very impressive!! Thanks for all your time in sharing and posting. Let me know if the links dont work!! http://youtu.be/HXFCPfFH6C4 http://youtu.be/Mpb5JeFMA5A
Oh my that's going to be amazing - I mean you're gonna have the fuse lit in his hair? hahah ...so cool. Then to top it off with the cannon idea. People are going to flip out over this. Thanks for giving me the sneak peek.
Terra, Had to share this with you and get your thoughts! I loved your idea of using light inside the tombstone. I'm making a Blackbeard one and decided to incorporate lights for his eyes and the lit fuses. I'm also going to use "flicker" lights behind the ship to simulate cannons going off. I carved the stone, "weathered", mud coat, and black detail paint and dry brush clean up. I'm working on the lights now but wanted to share it. Want to thank you again for the various ideas you have posted that is what gave me the idea! Will share the finished product once i am through. http://www.halloweenforum.com/member...rning-tool.jpg
Sorry I haven't. Sounds like a fun project though
Terra, have you ever made a "spell book" prop? If so, any photos? I found some large faux books I want to use the will also look at a mechanical open/close. But just trying to get ideas on design if you have any!!
