Hi Terra, I am new to this sight, however have followed your utube and other posts. I needed some artists for a big job in Northern NJ Chroma Blacklight painting thousands of square feet. I saw you met a company Six Feet Under I believe at a recent show that does panels. I was wondering if you can put me in touch with them or anyone else you may know that would be interested and up to the large and exciting task at hand. Thank You!

Thank you so much, Terra I've always wondered if other haunters us masks when carving foam. My husband always laughs at me when I wear mine The one that you sent me the link for looks great. I may have to invest in one like that this year.
Thanks for the clean up tips too! Hope you have a great weekend

Hi Terra! I've been admiring the pictures of your Hell Hound, as well as the pics in your foam carving tutorial. I was wondering, what do you use to clean up all of the foam bits that you end up with during the carving process? I'm sure that the large pieces aren't a problem, but what about the fine stuff when you do the fine sanding? Just curious, because when I make my tombstones, the discarded bits seem to end up EVERYWHERE!
Also, do you use masks to prevent from inhaling all of that stuff? If so, what kind?
As always, your work is amazing! I don't know how Hollywood hasn't scooped you up

oh while looking at ur video of painting chromadepts 3D panels i thought about it and the fog curtain thing i thought it would be cool if i hung some landscape fabic from in in the middle with black light paint haha it seems like a neat idea i may try and would just be awsome even if weather does not coperate with us

Faux Metal Haunt Boxes: Tutorial

by Terra on 05-07-2012 at 06:58 AM
Here's a space filler for large voids or openings in your haunt. Plus they look cool too:

These were large cardboard boxes given a makeover using paint and monster mud.

Please watch this quick video to help you get an overall idea of how the build will be like:

Foam Sculpt and Scale Halloween Monster Props: Tutorial

by Terra on 04-29-2012 at 04:56 PM

This tutorial will show how to design, cut, carve, sand, scale and paint a prop made out of foam. It will follow a Hell Hound build made for our 2012 haunt. The Hell Hound is a static yet intimidating prop. If it was real monster it would measure 10' nose to tip of tail. The prop's tail is curled so it's actual length is 8' but the height is still

8' long Tentacle Arms: Tutorial

by Terra on 03-22-2012 at 04:24 AM
Got these terrific tentacle arms from Fright Props but needed two things to make them work for our haunt. First, they needed to be hangable. Second, they had to be extended another 3 feet to be long enough to hang from the 13' ceilings in the garage so they'd be scary. The plan was to have five of them in a tight part of the haunt and the little ToTs had to touch them to go around. To make it even more intimidating - they were painted in fluorescent paint, two were rotating slowly on mirror ball

Transworld 2012

by Terra on 03-16-2012 at 07:33 AM
It was bigger this year! I didn't see huge new stand-out props BUT the vendors took existing ideas and ramped it up to level 11. It was awesome. As usual made a highlight video which is the best way to get an overview of the show:

My favorite prop of the show was The Thing-type monster grabbing at the girl on the table. Made by Dark Raven Designs. $3,650

Notes from the video:

Castle Of Terra: Vampyr Reign 2012 Plan

by Terra on 02-19-2012 at 06:04 AM
Alrighty, it's time once again to plan the haunt. This year's theme is Vampyr Reign which may be familiar to you. This was also the theme for 2009. We have three rotating themes to cut down on the work of designing and building. Hopefully 3 years is enough time for the ToTs to completely forget what it was like. But, that doesn't mean everything is exactly the same. In fact, starting to think that I might as well make a new name for the haunt because there are so many new things this year.
