I've just purchased this giant green glass gem - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003G90IEU/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it's one of those novelty paperweights you see at Michaels, but it was only $4 on Amazon. I'm going to make a stand for this, probably using a bit of velvet to cushion it. had a meeting about Halloween plans for my local makerspace. I'm considering starting another thread for that once I've got pictures & plans to post. Very exciting, though, and I feel so...

I think New Years Celebrations for 2017 will be extra enthusiastic, because by all accounts this year is bad for everyone. I hope the bypass goes well, and that you'll be able to find a way to enjoy Halloween anyway.

FANTASTIC JOB ON THIS!! I am totally impressed with your alterations!! I think I like the second option where the leg moves independent of the body rising. But I think anybody would be impressed just to see a thing that big moving!! Love it!!

Thanks so much! As mentioned, we had a lot of fun planning the carnevil theme and we drew from what others and done as well. The witches are just on hiatus and will make a comeback in the next couple years! This year's theme is going to be awesomely creepy and the details will rival those of last year. Stay tuned!

So cool. I'd love to make one. Won't be able to weld the shovel to the bracket from the motor. Could try an extension from the handle downward and connect that way. Great job.

Thanks! Wow, I thought this thread was dead and buried lol! Went back and read through it again and it was fun to remember all the little details of last year's set up. Yeah, the kissing booth was a blast. The actor really got into his role and interacted with the guests while they were waiting in line. Lots of fun! We're busy with this year's theme now and have started the mock build in our secret warehouse!. A much darker and more sinister theme for this year!

Spats, this is so helpful! I tried really hard not to raise my hopes up this year with doing stuff, but I am always at least a little more enthusiastic in planning than I should be. This year, there's not just a small budget, but also little time - so I can neither make fantastic things like I'd like to, nor go out and buy the things that match what I want. I am a crafter, and it is mind boggling to me to be going weeks without doing any crafting. Never experienced that before. And no matter...

If you go with a witch theme, you can also incorporate nature elements, which just involves going out into nature somewhere and finding stuff. For example, you can get twigs & thin branches, break them into pieces, then hot glue them or otherwise attach them together to make altars or cages for tiny imprisoned magical creatures. You could also pick up small cages that are meant to be candleholders, glue some moss to the bottom, then display something inside. Same for glass containers. If...

Hi Spats! Always good to see you crawl out of the darkness and grace us with your class and insight. As usual you're on point with your comments. I'm guilty as charged with regards to always wanting to up our game each year and it can be fun coming up with bigger and better sets, scares, tricks, etc. I'm also looking ahead to the day when I can no longer do what we do now and have already made plans for a major scale back. As a kid trick or treating in the 60's, I can remember the thrill of...

I finally got to visit my local Spirit store, and I was really surprised at the quality of some of their stuff, especially costuming. Many of their hats seem exceptionally sturdy, and they even had a section of general Halloween-related wear that I am hoping to acquire a bit of. Including a black suit/pants/tie set with orange pumpkins all over it. I hope one of those is left over. I actually liked a lot of the decorations, which had options that were neither gore nor glitter. One of their...

The two in the entrance of our store did not have the RIP on them, as pictured on their website, but looked like the ones sold at Costco. Same gargoyle but a different design on the base. I looked on the back of them and didn't see a fog attacment fixture. I didn't even see an off on switch. I'll check them out better next time i'm in there. It's an impressive looking prop but not for $300.00

Lookin' good B! I really like the decorative touches on the side of the carriage, also that you left the wheel natural. Nice contrast. Did you order one of those skellie horses from Home Depot? lol! This has to be in the running for most original prop of the year. The bar has been raised again!

Ours is open. Stopped by today. They said about half the stuff they were supposed to have didn't come in on time. Store is in disarray; boxes all over the floor, only a couple animatronics working. Kind of a weird layout compared to year's past. The supply issues are nothing new. I'll go back in a week or so and hope they have more stock in. A lot of the same old same old. The gargoyles on the pillar is really nice but $300 compared to less than $100 at Costco! Really?

Here are a couple examples. The plain pvc frame is standard sch 40 1" pvc and stock elbows. It has a base so it stands on a flat surface but I can also take the legs out of the base and slip them over rebar pounded into the ground. The last two pics with the foam pool noodles is using the adjustable pvc spider joints from Spider Hill Prop Works, so the cuts are a bit different. I can give you the cut measurements if you want Let me know if you have any questions. also member Diabolik (owner of...

Wal-wart get um cheap and you can fix them up any way you want. Paint em, ad extra detail, cut cracks in them, really anything.

I normally take two weeks vacation at Haloween. This year it's the 23-Nov 5. Takes us a week to get the haunt set up. We do a trial run "friends and family night" the night or two before Halloween, just to work out any bugs and make last minute adjustments. The folks who come to this go through and give us their impressions and tell us what worked and what didn't. On Halloween day, we do final set up, bring out the good stuff etc. Since we have a crew of about 20 helpers, we have them come over...

Hi...Glad you liked my little wall. There's no tutorial but there are some pictures in my props and mask album. Basically I adhered the blucky parts and additional items with some foam/plastic adhesive to some styrofoam (plywood would work too. I then filled gaps the with great stuff and spray painted when the foam was dry. The back and sides are painted with latex because I didn't have enough parts to finish. Since it's at the entrance to my underworld I've toyed with the idea of painting an image of a demon hand coming out from below.

I've read about your pneumatics..but I wasn't able to find any images or video whern I checked your 2012 album. I am really considering doing the Casafear groundbreaker this year. I have a picoboo and compressor, so I've only got a few items left to go. Did you use 2" or 3" stroke cylinders? What bore size?

No, I didn't think I could do a better job then Tara. It's basicly the same thing as her hell hound just a diffrent shape.

    Again, sorry for the delay.
