Same folks who believe the world is 2015 years old...'cause, ya know, 2015...right? Or who have a hard time calculating how far one would travel in an hour if they're in a car that's driving at a constant 70 miles an hour. They do exist. ...and they have facebook pages.

Went to one local Target. Found a box...it was completely empty! Someone(s) bought every single one. Might try to hit up another one today.

Wow! Thank you. That is exactly what I need for inspiration. I've had a hard time finding buildings with steampunk vibes. Thanks again for taking the time to post that. The more inspiration the merrier!!!

With all the stuff we have been doing to our house I haven't had time to work on Halloween stuff yet. I'm in the process of cleaning out the garage from all our house projects so I have space to work. Then its Halloween time! It will be in the next week for sure that I get started.

I, for one, would be interested in the bump codes. I'll still probably get some blind, but the codes couldn't hurt.

Yeah. One of the few things that bugged me was that Kim stood dumfounded as the principal lurched toward her. He obviously wasn't coming in for a hug. The other tiny thing that annoyed me was that Kim & Travis kind of let Alicia do what she wanted when they found her with her bf. But that might've just been commentary on modern parenting.

    1. Is it too much to ask the audience to fill in the blanks with their imagination? Does everything these days have to be so literal & spoon fed? 2. This is a "pre-zombie" world. How would he know to aim for the head? 3. I think this was already addressed. They were likely freaked out & ditched the food in the interested of safety. 4. I don't know how "normal" riots in the streets are. And, I think it's a bit of an assumption that there are already thousands of zombies at this point....

There wasn't much zombie action in Episode One, but they did start with a big scare at the beginning, kind of like Rick and the little girl in TWD. In Episode Two, the pace picked up as the plague started growing. It kind of reminded me of the beginning of Dawn of the Dead 2004.

Uhhmmm...don't tell anyone, but I pick up clearance candy during the course of the year after holidays (non-chocolate types, which store much better than chocolate). So, there will be some lucky ToT'ers who receive St. Valentine or Easter candy...perhaps some Christmas even. I always test from each batch (oh, the suffering! Forced to eat candy) to make sure it's okay, and have only had one or two bags (ever) that didn't meet my taste test - didn't taste quite right, so into the trash instead...

Bring 'em in. All of them. Just drive very, very slow. It's really crowded. My halloween nights usually see around 800 or more kids. With adults along to supervise. Out of your neighborhood? Then stop in mine. I've had people from over 20 miles away come by. Love asking people where they're from.

Ugly Joe replied to a thread Other: Bone Help! in Halloween Props
Yeah, making your own bones will be the far cheaper way to go - even the cheapest pre-made bones are going to cost you an arm and a leg. **rimshot** You can make some pretty nice femurs, tibiae, fibulae, humeri, radii, & ulnae quickly and easily from foam board - cut out the rough shape, grab a sanding pad, and start shaping the bone. Once it's "close enough", paint it with some latex paint to seal it, and then add aging (paint, stain, etc.) I've made hands that work out well, also from...

Fletch, I was addressing your comment " pumpkins do not have much detail to project. you can get good results from a mini from china" I was saying they actually do have a lot of detail, so much so that my real pumpkins that were around the singing pumpkins blended in perfectly, almost hard to tell real from projection. I used a Viewsonic PJD5533W that I got off eBay for a little over $300, the best part is I can use it for Halloween and in the off season it is my home theater projector and...

SpookyMuFu replied to a thread Fog: fog scent additives in Halloween Props
yeah, it goes away pretty much with the fog, as long as the fog is there you'll smell it. There are other spray scents that you mist onto things like a costume or a prop, those linger a lot longer but usually not for more then a few hours, however, I did have the misfortune of grabbing a bottle of Froggys "manure" scent at Haunt X and the lid wasnt on tight so it got on my hands and nothing I tried got rid of it, it had to ware off and it took a few days.......

actually, with my projector and the pumpkin jamboree DVD I can actually see the candle inside and the flickering candle flame, so the higher the native resolution the better too, and a high contrast ratio is helpful as well

I'd say a PVC frame would be great for this. Electrical conduit PVC is pretty cheap ($1.50 or so for a 10 foot length). Quick look at how much needed: Diameter of your Death Star: 5 feet, so circumference is about 15 feet (really it's 15.7 feet, a touch over, but rounding down barely looses size). So, 1 and half pieces of conduit per loop = $2.25 per loop, give or take. 6 vertical loops is $13.50 At least 1 loop horizontal to give stability, so add $2.25 for $15.75 for the PVC frame....

I'll second the "assembled" vote - especially for very young kids like toddlers, who won't "get" the box (even with pictures on it), but seeing a whole bike will knock them flat.

Wear some good pads/protection - I've been punched and kicked before posing as a scarecrow and startling people, and that was standing up...if you're at the foot level, kicking will be the first weapon, and your face may be a prime target. Remember: it's a FIGHT or flight reaction...and you never quite know what people bring to the table. (sometimes, even they're surprised by their own reaction)
