"Nothing scary, just spine tingly creepy ombiance." That is exactly my cup of tea. I am not into gore or blood. I believe what really scares you is what is perceived by the mind-not the actual subject or act. (I.E. Jaws was effective because in the beginning of the movie alot of tension was built on fear of something you actually never saw). That's just my theory. My yard is like a jungle, lots of trees, palms, etc. So at Halloween it's easy to give the creepy ambience with lighting, a few props, and music/or sound. I have kids who swear they saw someone or something in my yard- but I do not have anyone in hiding- but I do have a boom box with carefully spaced sound effects (not one immediately after another). One of my older neighbors last year about jumped out of his skin, when all of the sudden my sound effect cd played a hoot owl- he thought it was real! Scared by that- an owl? Yes, I believe it can be simple things like that.

The picture of the woman is actually part of a "Vampire" photo series by photographer Erwin Olaf. For me, the other pics in the series were a little too creepy for me, but I liked this one because it is such far cry from the typical Vampire sterotype (black & gothic), so I posted it. As far as it being real blood (yuck!), maybe?-- I don't know, the pictures have been photoshoped quite a bit.

grave stones

by savagehaunter on 02-10-2010 at 07:03 PM
I am planning on building several toobstones this year. I am planning on doing at least one with raised letters. I also want to get some antique items to glue to the stones and to get the paint together by April.

new year new haunt ideas

by savagehaunter on 01-20-2010 at 10:21 AM
With the start of 2010 I hve been thinking of goals. I need toi kill off the relitivly small debt I have before it gets too big. the second goal is to buy my own place that I can haunt at will and without worry of offending the landlords. I am excited about expanding my haunt and really getting serious about it. As a teen I haunted the yard every Halloween since I could no longer ToT. Then the family moved and most of the old wood toombstones I had were discarded. Over the years I have built

back ground music/ sound effects

by savagehaunter on 09-01-2009 at 08:36 PM
hey haunters. I was wondering what you guys like best for back ground music and sound effect cd's for your haunts. I own a lot of different ones. some for parties and others for haunting. I have been gravitating more towards Midnight Sindi9cate and Nox Arcana tracks for my haunt for background mood setting and combination of the old Disney Hanted Mansion sound effect record from the 70's to more some recent sounds on cd. I still think the old Disney version has more un-nerving sounds that
