I usually use foam pool noodles on the arms to help keep the clothing out of the material. This year I am making foam body forms for this. Here's a video on how i do that -

no worries ... i didn't even think that you implied that i was being "unsafe" ... personally, i think that many people are overreacting with lasers ... higher powered lasers are/were used in "rock concerts" ... i'm unaware of any lawsuits ... you can think of these cheap 5mw lasers like a hand held magnifying glass ... focus the sun on yourself for a brief period & you'll not damage your skin ... but if you hold the focused rays of the sun for a longer period ... well lets say that i've...

thx, dogbite if you're interested in seeing more check out => for more ... some of it is repetitive & the camera keeps going out of focus ... :-) the laser is 5mw, which is supposed to be safe & the fog does limit how much power gets through have always wanted a laser vortex & finally 2 years ago had enough time to build one ... most of my time up to then was spent modifying props, making them...

I love the mechanism harboe posted above but it is bulky. I redesigned it to be more compact. Although the version in the video doesn't have the arm movement, it could be added. You can see the video at I also have a video showing how I converted one of my Halloween characters to use for Christmas. It shows some details of the motor setup that might prove useful for you. You can find that here -

Hey Jana! I haven't been on much as you can see. I have just been so swamped with everything other than Halloween. I don't think I have made any new props since Jack Skellington. Just Saturday, a friend of mine and I decided to take on a new project this year. Hitch Hiking Ghosts! I am going to work on the mechanics of it and he (who just happens to be an amazing art teacher) is going to paint them. I will post updates. How about you? Anything new going on in your world?

I love that you are trying to push your boundaries and test yourself. Would you be able to do it as a volunteer position or are you hoping to be paid? Our local charity haunts typically run and survive on volunteers. I think the right manager of a charity haunt would be more likely to appreciate your interest and possible adjustment period than would a manager of a for profit haunt. One of our local haunts has a spooky character who walks the various cue lines and the attraction while...

nosefuratyou, I suspect there is nothing going on. I googled "Lord Winston" and it sounds like he is/was a very respected "fertility specialist" perhaps he's just taking Daisy for a "ride in the backseat of his car" to his "clinic" for a "more private fertility examination".

Nice score on the foam blocks! I started getting the same foam blocks back in 2008. Here's one example of what I used them for.

Frankly both are awesome, and you can go wrong with either. I am going to suggest the zombies only because the chainsaw prop has a similar motion to the grannie at 44 seconds in your personal video.

Demon clown with the sharp teeth and the vibrant contrast of the red, white and black is the scariest and would be best for a startle scare. If your goal is a creepy psychological scare then clown#3 with the green hair. #1 doesn't do anything for me.

Glad to hear you're Ok! Sadly I think the numbing dial at work goes to 11. Need to find something else. But better than digging deeper in debt. Summers around the corner anyway. And the garage is mostly clean. Maybe we'll get started earlier (gotta stick with smaller things we can store or toss this year.)

I get what you are saying about the pose 'n stay skellies. Sorry for all of your trouble with the lighter skeletons. Seems like you had a bunch of bad things happen. On Halloween night last year, my Ollie was propped against a fence and I asked my niece to watch him while I went inside to get the wire ties to secure him to the fence, and when I came outside, my niece was across the yard, laughing and talking and Ollie had gotten flipped over by a gust of wind and was broken in two pieces. Needless to say I lost my mind for a few minutes, but recovered because, after all, it was Halloween night. So I get what you are saying about them being light, and with all the Apoxie Sculpt Ollie had on him, he was very top heavy. I will continue to use the lighter skeletons just making sure that they are secured VERY well so that the wind can howl and the earth can quake, but my skellies will stay where I say they should stay. (I hope, anyway)

Hey I Am..... sounds like you have some things in mind.. Can I interject? I love Bucky's ......I have about seven of those guys..but they are HEAVY!!! Are you willing to deal with the 40 plus pound skellies versus the four pound ones? What's your problem with the lighter ones? Let's talk about it. What's going on in the Will-I-Am-Gourd?

I am not sure exactly what tombstones I want to make. I may mimic heresjohnny's tombstones from this year. They have a definite Haunted Mansion theme to them, plus some other fun ones I think. AND, I want to make the Jack tombstone that you made last year, so any tips you can give me would be much appreciated. I think I am going to be a thin, wood back to it, because I'd like to make it a "pop-up" so I need a backside I can screw into it. Also, I'd like to do a Zero prop to alongside Jack, but wondering how I could make him go up and down....or maybe just rock back and forth......a lot to decide. There are so many talented people on the forum that I am sure if I pose a question, someone will help me decide what to do. There is a great YouTube video of making a Zero prop, it's a "There Goes The Neighborhood" video and she has some good ideas. Seems like a haunter because she does everything on the cheap.

Great news about your folks, I'm glad to see that things are being resolved. I know it's difficult, but things happen for a reason, I believe that. You guys are definitely in my prayers though, and I am hoping for the best for you all. BTW, a coffin can be used to store other props in....just think of it as a really odd-shaped tote....ha, ha, ha. I am definitely going to need your input on my NAILED that with your haunt this year and I love, love, love how it turned out. Sooooo cool!!!
