Can you tell me what terminals to hook the wires to for making these rear window wiper motors work? I bought one from Skycraft Surplus and couldn't get it to move (yet). Thanks!

Glad to hear you're Ok! Sadly I think the numbing dial at work goes to 11. Need to find something else. But better than digging deeper in debt. Summers around the corner anyway. And the garage is mostly clean. Maybe we'll get started earlier (gotta stick with smaller things we can store or toss this year.)

There's time when we all just don't think. I'm sitting in a Hospital Emergency with my wife enjoying the forum when a link takes me to YouTube. As the video loads there's lots of loud screaming and my phone is on full blast. First the screaming is the video, then its my wife telling me to shut my phone off, then its the nurses running around the corner to see whats happened, then it's my wife screaming at me once again for bringing attention to us while she's supposed to be resting. ...

Will the asylum staff be actors, animatronics, static props or a combination? The set-up looks ambitious, good luck with all the work ahead of you.

Just thinking out loud,I wonder if an ultrasonic cleaner that a dentist or jewelery store would use for cleaning would unclog the heater element. The cavitation removes a lot of materials.

That's so cool looking! I never thought about making a fake front door. Your swamp fašade looks amazing, Grave Grabbers! And your front door looks awesome too, Nightfisher! Are these all made out of foamboard?

WOW! I've thought about doing something like that, but have nowhere to store the panels. It will be a small miracle if the door I made survives storage to make another appearance this year. lol How did you attach the panels? I just used 3M fastener tabs to secure the door panel, then peeled them off the door after Halloween. I wouldn't even know where to begin securing something on that scale! Here is the door panel Grave Grabbers referred to. It was a quick, last minute build to hide our...

I like using the motors I get from E-bay because they come in various different RPMs. I use a 10 RPM on my spider. I do use a deer motor in a similar mechanism to raise and lower a ghost from a tree limb.

Grave Grabbers- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you think I hold any ill feelings towards you. I'm always happy when another haunter is inspired by something I built, credit or no credit. Who knows, maybe someone else came up with the same idea as me and they just happen to look similar. No accusations. To tell the truth, I'm kind of surprised no one came up with it before I did. :) We are all here to inspire and support each other and I didn't mean for this to turn into a shouting match...

It's just blue foam board, which is super light, but did cause our door to creak, which was fine with me lol. I attached it with 3M fastener (AKA super velcro) and just peeled the tabs off the door after Halloween. Got lucky and didn't damage the paint lol. Here are the details on that project... https://www.facebook.com/pg/yardhaunt/photos/?tab=album&album_id=323095241379073

I would love one day when I retire from halloween decorating, just doing projections. Or 1 massive art piece for the front yard. Light up well, and thats it. I have talked with the neighbors and said it would be fun to pumpkin carve- in the range of 20 or 30 pumpkins, then tea light them and thats it. Eventually it will just be my little fave things inside the house maybe. These are all my thoughts when I eventually will start toning it down. But life is funny, and probably when I am 80 I will...

Kindy's has always been sold out every time I checked there. You buying them all? I try and pick up deer at yard sales for a few bucks, then yank the motors and toss the rest. Microwave turntables use the same type of motor, but it's only the motor itself without the plastic housing to shelter it from the elements. They are great if you need a smaller motor to fit in a tight place.

How about a foam facade to cover up to the white gutters? You can hide fog machines behind it, maybe place /make a cauldron creep mixing a brew in a big cauldron. Maybe make the facade like a witch shack.....I would remove the pumpkin lights and string lights and let the lighting on the facade be its own path...

Nightfisher--I have my dropping spider(s) just coming off a tree limb, but I like your setup with the skeleton a lot better. The prop would probably be a lot more noticable that way. I don't know when his video was posted, but it looks like that Toddzilla guy is using my Spider Lifter mechanism I made and posted here on the forum in 2011. http://www.halloweenforum.com/halloween-props/112874-spider-lifter.html VIDEO:...

I get what you are saying about the pose 'n stay skellies. Sorry for all of your trouble with the lighter skeletons. Seems like you had a bunch of bad things happen. On Halloween night last year, my Ollie was propped against a fence and I asked my niece to watch him while I went inside to get the wire ties to secure him to the fence, and when I came outside, my niece was across the yard, laughing and talking and Ollie had gotten flipped over by a gust of wind and was broken in two pieces. Needless to say I lost my mind for a few minutes, but recovered because, after all, it was Halloween night. So I get what you are saying about them being light, and with all the Apoxie Sculpt Ollie had on him, he was very top heavy. I will continue to use the lighter skeletons just making sure that they are secured VERY well so that the wind can howl and the earth can quake, but my skellies will stay where I say they should stay. (I hope, anyway)

Hey I Am..... sounds like you have some things in mind.. Can I interject? I love Bucky's ......I have about seven of those guys..but they are HEAVY!!! Are you willing to deal with the 40 plus pound skellies versus the four pound ones? What's your problem with the lighter ones? Let's talk about it. What's going on in the Will-I-Am-Gourd?

I am not sure exactly what tombstones I want to make. I may mimic heresjohnny's tombstones from this year. They have a definite Haunted Mansion theme to them, plus some other fun ones I think. AND, I want to make the Jack tombstone that you made last year, so any tips you can give me would be much appreciated. I think I am going to be a thin, wood back to it, because I'd like to make it a "pop-up" so I need a backside I can screw into it. Also, I'd like to do a Zero prop to alongside Jack, but wondering how I could make him go up and down....or maybe just rock back and forth......a lot to decide. There are so many talented people on the forum that I am sure if I pose a question, someone will help me decide what to do. There is a great YouTube video of making a Zero prop, it's a "There Goes The Neighborhood" video and she has some good ideas. Seems like a haunter because she does everything on the cheap.

Great news about your folks, I'm glad to see that things are being resolved. I know it's difficult, but things happen for a reason, I believe that. You guys are definitely in my prayers though, and I am hoping for the best for you all. BTW, a coffin can be used to store other props in....just think of it as a really odd-shaped tote....ha, ha, ha. I am definitely going to need your input on my lighting...you NAILED that with your haunt this year and I love, love, love how it turned out. Sooooo cool!!!

I have watched the video over and over....I don't see the crate hiding your projector!!! This is my first year with projectors and the pumpkins were a big hit, but the ghost loop I had on the other side of the yard was bleh. I was really disappointed how that ended up. I projected it onto a scrim stretched over a big pvc frame that was painted black. Basically it ended up looking like a scrim with a pvc frame. I used cornstalks to try to hide it....it was not good. But only that small thing was a disappointment for me. Next year, I am focusing on a few more ghosts and lots and lots of new tombstones. I am going hard core over the winter months making tombstones and finishing up Ollie's coffin. I'm going to try to cut Ollie's speech down to one minute, two and a half minutes is just WAY TOO long. Robert and Pat tried to tell me.....but I am hard headed. How are things going for you and your folks?

I like how your pumpkins don't have the light from the projector showing......my pumpkins were okay, but I need to do some SERIOUS tweaking next year.
