Those tea lights that I saw at the store - the plastic flame was fully illuminated but it is by reflection. It is lit by an LED light that is underneath it. The little plastic flame part is not a light. But, it looks like it is the thing that has the light in it. When the Luminara candle first came out in 2011 I got one. The technology and the color of the LED has improved since but it's still the basic design that I'm showing here in the video I took (back in 2011):

I just saw the tea light sized version of the Luminara candle. They were very good: http://www.luminaracandles.com/luminara-rechargeable-tea-light-candles-set-of-6-with-base-remote-ready/

Yes, in fact, generally each year I pick an icon prop and design the whole haunt around it. There's a big reason for that. Only have so much time to build the haunt for that year so the hardest/time sucking prop is built first. Then, the time remaining is used to help sell the theme of why that prop was created. Here's a quick picture of each year's prop... 2006: Giant Spider 2007: Terra's Throne

I remember that day and it was a lot of fun to watch the numbers creep up ever higher and finally leveled off at the 19,000. Was really hoping it was going to hit 20k but alas.... I believe April is was when Halloween planning hit it's Zenith. We have a lot of lurkers who come here for the tutorials and ideas and April is very busy for that. That's my theory anyway :)

Wind. Yeah, that 'fricken wind is what drove me into the garage. BUT, with a garage haunt you are amping up your liability. Pluses and minuses.... If you want to have an outdoor haunt - it's just better to design everything with wind in mind. I'm talking 40 mph sustained. 3pm had that wind hit and shredded the haunt back in 2007. It was horrifying...

Sorry i can't compare other video editing programs. I've stayed with the Adobe Premiere forever because of that learning curve. Once is enough for me. As for your computer I consulted the hubby (computer nerd) and this is what he said. "Processor and memory sound fine. Hard drive not an issue. But, you need to make sure you have a powerful video card. Other than that you should be fine." So, basically the processor, memory and the video card are the three that work really hard crunching...

EPIC! I thought it was so sweet that the kids were involved in the scares (idol and the giant stone). Bet the kids were as wide-eyed as they could going through :) BRAVO!

I use Adobe Premiere Elements. It's got a heck of a learning curve but if you stick with a basic formula of how you like your videos to look than once you figure it out - it's easy. They like to update it every year but I only buy a new copy every 3-4 years. I'm still on Premiere Elements 9 and they are already on 13: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere-elements/features.html Oh, editing video (especially HD) tasks your processor like mad. You need to have a relatively fast computer.

Hallowindow looks terrific blasted onto the side of the house. Those bouncing skele's are always a favorite :) You embed the video bu copying the URL in the box that opens up when you select the Filmstrip icon in the dialog box.

You may want to explore the music genre called Epic Music. It's the songs used in movie trailers. They are heart-pounding and some can be just a bit scary enough for Halloween but not overly so. Here's a couple of examples:

Ugly Joe has a great point. To add to that - what brand of fake blood are you using? I used PermaBlood from Pale Night Productions and it was thick enough not to get soaked into the expanding foam.

Wow, Diabolik! What great ideas to quickly (and lightly) bulk out a zombie. Hope you don't mind but I'd like to toss into this that you can go to Level: Bananas! by further manipulating hardware cloth. It really is a prop maker's go-to cloth. It's a supreme medium to fold, bend and pinch into exactly what you want. When making Terra I took many of the following ideas from LaurieBeast's, The Vampiress tutorial. A dress form is a helpful start to form the top of the torso. Here you can see...

Before I set this up - I have an LED Par light but what should be in front of it? I don't have a vaporizer but do have a small fog machine.
