  1. Very cool thanks for the tips I always wanted grow bananas outdoors
  2. Thanks, sorry for late reponse, I just realized I have messages and I'm trying to respond. My banana trees will be cut down to the ground as soon as they get hit by first frost. I cover the root system with a bag of mulch and then I secure a sheet of heavy plastic on top to keep things dry. I did this last year and all banana trees came back but it was a lousy summer (cold and rainy days) and they did not grow very large because of it. They will grow to about 18 feet if weather permits but will not bear any fruit. On my Windmill Palm tree, I will use 2" insulation batting (home depot) if the weather turns really cold for a long period of time. I'm going to let it ride out the winter if it stays above 10 degrees. I will post pictures if I do protect it. Check out paradisepalmco.com. They warranty their palms for 1 year and ship them with no root ball (very light to carry) I purchased a 7 foot and a 3 foot and had them splice them together.
  3. Wow very nice set-up. And great landscaping. Question what do you do with all those tropical plants in the winter?
