A lot of my stuff stays up all year-round, but I do add to it throughout the Fall...

We did the same thing! I've been hosting parties for 24 years... Just decided that enough was enough and perhaps it was time for my DH and I to start going to parties and not have to worry about the clean-up! And, I think that my neighborhood is (finally) getting into the season. I've noticed a few houses with some lights up already... We're usually the first house to have stuff up and the last to tear down. I feel a little guilty, but not enough to sweat my fanny off putting stuff up...

LOL, tomorrow is Navy football! I'll be starting with the lights on Sunday... Well, maybe Saturday after the game! :) I'm behind the power curve here. I've already seen a couple of houses in town with lights on! The inside of the house is almost all done. I just have to bring the Count up from the basement and get my DH (Darling Hubby) to help me bring up the coffin coffee table... (He made me a toe pincher and had the local glass company cut a custom top, very cool!)

We often talk about our favorite Halloween-related movies, but what about our favorite books? Fiction or non-fiction, ghost stories, novels, the history of our high-unholy-holiday - what's your favorite?

No way kids... You are definitely not alone! It can be thirty degrees out and I'm a sweaty, hot mess! Give me sweatshirt-weather anytime!! (This from a woman who's lived in the literal swamp of DC for nearly thirty years...)

Nobody in my current neighborhood decorates either. (I'm not counting the single strand of lights and the smiling scarecrow hanging in the tree a couple of houses down.) The neighbors here hate my DH and I, so I decorate even MORE to piss them off!! The 'hood I used to live in in SE Washington, DC, used to get all dolled up! After about three years of my decorating, the neighbors really started to get into it. And by then, we had about 600 TOTers, so I think they felt obligated. By...

When I do a light show, I usually start Labor Day weekend. If I'm only doing a few lights and lots of props, I have to start waaaaaaaaaay later... Like the night before. Otherwise, skeletons mysteriously stand up and walk away... The inside stuff stays up year-round. Hubby's very understanding that way. The heavy stuff (the outhouse or dungeon) and the fall-ish stuff, I can put out a week or so earlier, but we've got some real Hellions that live in the area. Sucks to be me...

There are two stores in Glen Burnie! Definitely worth the drive... One of them actually had a couple of the Pumpkin Nestor props. Still $200, but they mentioned more coupons coming. :)

A portable generator is always a great thing to have, especially during bad weather season. Tractor Supply and the Sportsmans Guide usually have the best deals. That said, it might not be a good idea to use the generator for prop controllers and your more delicate electrical props as you do get some surges. Your best bet is to spread the load out so you don't overload any one or two circuits. Another idea is to be selective about what you do have on at any given time. If you're having...

They're opening in MD! I picked up a couple of the green fire and ice spots. Very cool, but I'd recommend waiting for a coupon as they are $29 each. I also picked up a couple of the zombie squirrels for the Cheverly Hillbillies theme. They' re hysterical!
