Kirk Cameron is a babbling idiot but at least he's encouraging Christians to embrace the holiday, rather than shun it. And if he wants to believe pagans stole it from Christians, eh, who cares really? I've heard worse drivel.

I purchased the talking overstuffed rat from BlueFrog. It arrived today and I wasted no time putting batteries in it and put it on the buffet table. :D He will be a nice surprise for our guest on Saturday. ;)

Our forecast was looking great a week ago... now they're saying we'll be just above freezing with scattered flurries. Still 9 days away though and the days around it seem fine - cool but no snow - so I'm hoping it'll improve. Hoping you have a great year this year... I think you need a lot of good karma to make up for that horrible year you had a couple back.

LOL Don't bother. They've already deviated from the comic story on this the minute Herschel was killed off. I'm sure some of the plot points may still be the same, but right now I'm thinking the show is just going on it's own just using the comic as a basic outline.

That is awesome! I bet it is really something at night! I know I've seen an outdoor décor thread this year but it hasn't been very active. Maybe this will get everybody going.

Just finishing up carving a tombstone which my wife will likely paint this afternoon. So at least there will be something new. There's another one in the works and then another project that hopefully I'll be able to get done. Nothing huge this year. How about you? Locked and loaded and ready to go? I think there's some kind of law about being ready too earlier.

Ghouliet, have you seen the Canning Jar quit patterns? A friend of mine is doing them with "Halloween" contents. Which reminds me, I still need to send her my neon butterfly material. :) She is doing one for me, I can't wait to get it!!

You can go to a store like Party On or Party City, Spencers, etc and they have the longer black light fixtures in various lengths. You can simply put up a temporary one of those for the display and that would work. As long as it's about the length of the display it should be enough to "light" the houses.

Hey Hopelessly Insane...welcome to the forums. I think ideally it'd be great to be able to be nearer the bottom as you plan, but when I was a kid if a house was really well lit up - if the yard looked like it was a step up from the standard jackolantern and paper window cut-outs, we were going no matter what. If you had 34 stairs and just your porch light on, yeah, I could see kids not making the effort. Just let it be known it'll be worth their trip, either treat-wise or decoration-wise. ...

I don't think it will ever go that far. The practice of having a scheduled time for TOTing has been going on in regions of the United States for years. This topic gets brought up every year on here. Just like those who have no designated times for TOT are shocked, those of us that have lived with it all our lives are equally as shocked that there are regions where there isn't. It hasn't affected anything in all these years and it won't change anything in coming years. Unless it falls on a...

Thanks for the friend request, Mr. H! Looking forward to seeing if you got anything new planned this year. (The link below from Mr. Gris is gonna be handy too. We picked up an old snowman blow mold last year that needs some TLC.)
  4. Congrats on the blow mold find! The best way to repaint him will be by using spray can. There are how to process on line but the best I have seen in by my friend at Blowmold Magic he has a how to video. Basically you stripe down the paint tape it off and slowly spray paint him back to life. I do this often it brings it back to life and illuminates again without heavy paint or brush strokes. I hope this info helps!
