One if my childhood friends had a pet racoon. She used it as part of her Science Fair project. The raccoon freaked out and started biting people at the Science Fair. They had to put it down afterwards.

I do think haunting can be quite competitive. We all want the best house on the block, right? :) Halloween forum has always been the best gather place for showcasing and gathering ideas. I know of several Haunters that look down on the forum and are not active members. Same with going pro...very few people actually make money from this hobby. Most put more into it...time and money than they ever get out of it. Of course we do it for the gratitude of our community. Some just take...

Glad you like the Lazy Susan idea. On the head one I had installed a long, thick screw in the center of it and her head is on it like a spike. Later on I needed a base for a horse's head that had PVC for a skeleton and so that's why you also see the two PVC bases. Those easily screw on or off. For the full sized one there is a metal pipe threaded base and the dummy has a metal pipe as a spine. So, she just threads on or off. Hopefully you see that in this picture of the two bases in storage:

Set up a table and chairs in front of the stairs. That way the TOTers don't go up the stairs at all. I would be worried about safety.

The wind is roaring outside as I read this thread. I am sure we will be back to repair mode soon. My husband and I were discussing the possibility of just eliminating the yard haunt and just put our efforts towards are garage walkthrough next year. We would put up a facade and decorate the porch so the neighborhood would still know we planned to do the haunt halloween night. I love decorating, but the weather has been crazy the last few years. We budget as many days to repair as we do...

Well, I dunno if Fright Props would not admit they had a problem. I find they are really helpful in trouble-shooting. Couple of years ago I had a faulty regulator - they sent me another one and that one was faulty. After we talked they realized they had gotten a whole batch of faulty regulators and got me a working one from a different batch quickly. They were great through that whole situation.

Great idea for a thread - that umbrella frame stand is brilliant and the PVC painting one as well. Here's my two: There is a Lazy Susan on that head stand which allows me to turn the head as needed. You can also make them bigger to hold an entire prop dummy:

Hello and welcome :) I was thinking that if you place your collection under a cabinet than you could get an under-cabinet fluorescent light fixture and replace the bulb with a fluorescent one. In addition - or alternately you could repaint some key parts of the collection with fluorescent paint. I love WildFire and they sell little kits of it: RSHD4www.blacklight.com/items/WF170005KT

Hey there I am hanging in there. The old body is acting up again and this gettin old **** is gettin old lol. Start PT tomorrow for strengthening my back and trying to get rid of sciatica nerve pain! Other than that doing well and probably will do minimal decorating outside due to the pain. Maybe next year can do more plus will have help since it is on a Saturday!!! How about you setting up this year? I know you took last year off.

I really shouldn't complain about any show that highlights the best holiday of the year, but I wish they would have done the competition differently. I think the contestants may have spent $$$$$ in an effort to win. The competition shouldn't be how deep your pocketbooks are. Haunting, IMHO, is more about the creativity to use tools and supplies with a limited budget to make something fantastic!
