We've used actors for several years and our results have been great! The interaction between a scare actor and the crowd, whether it be in the queue line or going through the haunt, can't be duplicated by an animated prop or static scare. Last year we had 30 people work our haunt. It was non stop scares and screams! Our carnevil crew from 2015 zombies 2014

Thanks Groosum & Gaintstogie. On the crazy part, its hard to say for all of us Halloween nuts, but I would say its your weekend creative outlet stash. On the sprinkler heads, I replaced some old ones in the yard and thought the old ones would be useful for something. So I striped out the guts, saving the springs for something in the future :), and using the outside casing for a place to stick the PCV support from the tops parts. The casings have a top and a bottom that screw...

I know these are very simple and basic but I had time to kill so wanted to dress up a few of our witch jars. Got some wooden dowel caps at the craft store and glued them to the jar lids. Painted them black then brushed on a bit of brown. The variety will look neat.

Lilibat, is there a possibility of you taking a picture of yourself standing next to it to get a sense of scale? You can blur out your face if you are not comfortable with that, just want to see how it looks next to a person, if it's not possible, no biggie, thanks

LOVE LOVE LOVE what you did. And great idea for a thread. I had planned to do our garage doors as crypts. Was going to cut the foam to fit inside the "rectangles" on the garage door & use strong magnets to hold them on. Did a test to see if we could open & close doors with them on and it worked. Unfortunately I never got around to it & now we are moving. So really glad I didn't do it. :O I had also wanted to do arched window inserts for the 2 garage windows. Hopefully I can do...

I know it's probably not the correct character, but he does remind me a lot of King Haggard from The Last Unicorn. P. S. I, too, like what you did with the angel figurine.

This is what I struggle with as well, for lack of a better way to put it. We've been doing a haunt for over 20 years and we've developed a loyal following. We now have older teens and young adults who come by and tell us they've been coming to our house since they were young. Parents tell us how much they like coming each year and how they appreciate what we do to give kids a fun Halloween. I think of the void we'd leave if we just stopped doing it so hopefully we can scale back gradually and...

We welcomed a new member to our family. This is Toby. He's a Seal Lynx Mitted Ragdoll. He's 4 1/2 years old. His previous owners surrendered him to a shelter and I was lucky enough to find his page, I think on the day it went up! Now if we can get our 12 year old Seal Mitted Ragdoll to accept him. Still miss my Bengal Gino. :'(

We are house hunting, so hopefully we find something and are moved & settled in time to do my planned Saturday Nightmare Fever themed party. Graveyard will be out front, different rooms in the house will be different shops. Theme & Invites usually are the only big changes each year, but I do add more each year.

Doing little accent props for our witch house. Bought an old book from a thrift store. Aged the cover with paper mache and some paint/dry brush. Printed a couple spells off and stained the paper with a coffee filter. Set it on the easel I got on clearance from Michaels and it came out pretty fair. This will sit someplace in the main room of the haunt.

I would love one day when I retire from halloween decorating, just doing projections. Or 1 massive art piece for the front yard. Light up well, and thats it. I have talked with the neighbors and said it would be fun to pumpkin carve- in the range of 20 or 30 pumpkins, then tea light them and thats it. Eventually it will just be my little fave things inside the house maybe. These are all my thoughts when I eventually will start toning it down. But life is funny, and probably when I am 80 I will...

I kind of set this one off to the side for a bit. I'm still playing with shapes and getting my idea firmed up. I went back to another item I wanted to do for Saki's haunted toy craft. I have a haunted jack-in-the-box on my bench I started working on over the weekend. I will get some pictures up soon. It's going to be very detailed and elaborately gilded like a 1700 or 1800's toy that has been lost and started to decay but wit a slight Tim Burton vibe to is. The jack will be a ghost...

How is your Wrongling Bros coming along? Is your setup all in your front yard? Haven't seen you post anything lately, but then I haven't been on here much. I've pinned a ton of your stuff from the Plague and Wrongling's-inspiration to revise & improve on some of my own props. I also want to make several of your boxes you used in the Pirates...either for the cowboy scene, zombie babies, etc..good dual use of a box! I'm busy with end stages of setup, and now watching it all blow away, literally. High winds, again, today. Several things broke, collapsed, blew away, you name it Hope your weather is cooperating!!!

    I started 2016 in July.

Got 30 new blank stones painted, waiting for the epitaphs to be selected and written.
30 New crosses painted, waiting to be assembled.
Made a cemetary sign, hanging with chains...

Trying to narrow the new ones down from roughly 600 notes I have, trying to make the best puns...

Hoping to post 2016 pics before Oct 31 this year instead of waiting til next august.

Still have to pull down the old stones, and decide which ones get painted over, and which ones need to be touched up.

got 3 new gargoyles... oh, and gotta work on the lighting again...

Hoping to add 2 or 3 scary scarecrows, Looking for more free scrapwood.

You did a great job with "eyeing it up"!
Knowing the name comes from a combination of the facts that I love tropical fruit, and that I happen to have a houseplant that produces a smaller version of those-- a little smaller than a ping-pong ball.

I'm so behind!!! First the vacation, then we foolishly started a project for the non-Halloween portion of our life. (What?!?! Non-Halloween isn't allowed within 18mos of October!!! Haha) Of course Murphys Law was in effect so it's still only 95% done. But we should be finishing in the next couple days and it was adding a pool. So on the upside, have a pool to swim in to cool off while working on Halloween in this HEAT will be good.
Wish me luck. I may make myself crazy(ier) trying to get my list done.
