Happy Easter, erveryone! (How I see my girls on Easter morning.)
I'm afraid of doing structural damage to my house because of my lack of carpentry skills. Still... I'm going to climb up and have a close look at the roof of my porch. I'd like to put some kind of facade there, but I need to make sure the weather doesn't rip it away.
"Another great project. How is that attached to your house and how do you keep the wind from knocking it down?" That's a good question. The bottom section is 16 feet wide and is screwed into the trim around the garage door. The tower section has a brace on the back that is secured to the siding about halfway up the tower. The roof top section latches around the eve to provide more grip and the roof is screwed into the top section in eight places.
Happy Easter!!
Asking questions is just fine, but go ahead and post to the Mausoleum thread (Prop Showcase: Haunted Hollow Mausoleum Build) so that everyone can see the questions and answers -- you might not be the only one to have these concerns. Now, as for using 1x2s instead of ripped 1x1s -- that should be just fine! The only reason I bought the 1x4s and ripped them down to 1x1s was to save some money. Go with what you can, and save money where you can, too! Do you have my PDF? If not, here is a link: Mill Creek Haunted Hollow: Mausoleum Tutorial.
Hello. Your mauseleum is what guided me to this site and I wanted to see if I could get a start on it last weekend but I ran into a snag. I'm hoping that you have the time to answer a question for me. Do you see an issue with using 1x2s for the framing as opposed to the 1x1s that you specify? I don't have a table saw and I can't get Lowe's or Home Depot to cut the wood into strips. Also, I'm new to the site so let me know if I shouldn't post directly to you like this.
