Manic Mom and DMTNT are my heroes!!! I wish my hubby would get into it like the 2 of you. So have you ever been on the news with your yard haunt? That is my goal one year .

Hi ELH! Yes, in our neighborhood, we are known as the pirate family because of our Halloween display : - ) You can check out pics of our 2007 haunt at hubby's profile (he's DMTNT: Dean Men Tell No Tales) .

Haven't got our pics up yet of 2008, but we basically stayed with the same theme/layout & amped it up a bit. Got the captain to move, firing cannons, built up the ship a bit, etc. Have the pirate on beach with the sword in his back from the POTC ride, as well as the jail scene with the prisoners trying to get the keys from the dog. We had several audio tracks playing: one with the general "Yo, Ho" song, and the front guy in the crows nest has audio from different parts of the POTC ride. Hopefully we'll get some better photos up by the end of this week...

Hello, I just saw that you were obviously a pirate lover (like me at heart) and a disney lover! Do you have any pictures of your yard haunt? I always love to get new ideas.

I couldn't find a bird either but I bought a crow, stipped his feathers, spray painted him white and then glued on white feathers I bought from Michael's! lol. Paint beak yellow with a little touch of black and two black dots on the feathers for eyes....and there ya go..a "furry" looking seagull! I got sick and spent 4 days in the hospital and got home in the afternoon of the 30th!! So I didn't get a lot done that I wanted to. I added more pics today. How did you make out??

Thanks for the kind words. I took an unexpectant ride in an ambulance. lol They found blood clots in my lungs. I get short of breath easily, but I feel better everyday.

The winds have caused me to delay the completion of my display another week. I just don't have the energy to keep going out there and fixing everything. Luckily my graveyard is staying put.

    How are you coming along?

I hear ya....frankly, I'm not sure we'll even get around to doing the skulls this year, other than me cutting them out to make them look a bit better. Time is just flying by! Hard to get work done on the weekends, as all the neighborhood kids want to play on the ship ; - ) And all the neighbors come over to chat. Next thing you know - day is over & ya got barely anything done!

Hang in there! If the 3 axis skull is frustrating you, let it go til next year & work on something else that will get you enthusiastic again : - )

Going very slow at my haunt. To be honest....the three axis skull I'm doing is driving me crazy! The amount of work to do a routine is crazy....maybe I'm doing something wrong....who knows. This year I don't have the spirit I normally have, very hard to get motivated....

Hey Mike! Thanks for the pics - the crab looks great. Your son has a great idea - now how about casting a mold & creating a few more dozen to swarm around your ship? ; - ) We have the same lobster (which is where I got my crab) in our neighborhood party / fun stuff shop. I actually found a huge crab & lobster at our local TJ Maxx Home Store (metal), but they were still $25 each, and frankly, were probably 1/2 the size of my blucky! Thanks for the offer of checking out there, but I'm content right now with my little crab as we try & work on other stuff....

I'm finally tackling making new hands for my bluckies and carving out their skulls for a bit more realism. Will also play with aging the bones somewhat to get rid of that horrible "glow-in-the-dark" yellow stuff.

How goes things on your haunt???

Manic Mom.....got the crab pics for ya. Took two pics and they are posted in my profile pics. Crab measures 14" wide and about 11" deep. I've looked all over for a crab and lobster. In the second picture you can see the little lobster I had previously gotten off ebay...the crab that came with him is smaller. Do you want me to check Lowe's to see if they have any more? I could mail it if you want. I bought blue paint but my son said to keep him gray like the crabs in Pirates 3.
