I just read about your fears. I have many tell me about their ghost storys, this is not one. A girl from the east coast was alone and heard strange clanging , she couldn't figure it out, the next night her parents were home it happened again. A mental patient had spent several nights and days in their basement, swinging a knife from a string, hitting pipes making the noise. The local institution kept a lid on the escape trying to get him back quietly.
