No, sorry - this is the only one but there are other haunt conventions out there. Some are even geared more towards home haunters :)

Aww, thanks :) Gesso is an artist's term for a special kind of paint that is designed to prep canvas for painting. It sucks into the canvas and the surface of it is very 'toothy' allowing the subsequent real paint to attach easily. Gesso was perfect for priming the landscape fabric when painting the fluorescent murals. You can get it at any paint store but it is a bit pricy. I've always wondered if Glidden Gripper (gotten at Home Depot/Lowe's) would work just as well though so that may be a...

Oh yes, landscape fabric is great for haunt panels. I even paint them :) Be sure to get the stuff the pro's use though - it's thicker than what Home Depot/Lowe's sells. It's called Dewitt Weed Barrier Pro. Here's a video of how to make those wall panels:

I didn't ask the question about if the donations were for a charity or not. The best thing is to ask your insurance agent. He also mentioned that no homemade food is to be served either. I thought that was a weird one - but I guess some people give out popcorn and such. Even though we had confirmation that we were insured - never felt comfortable that if the crap hit the fan, they'd be there for me. Year to year It was always a stress but glad that we never had an incident in the 6 years we...

That second link looks like the kind that has foil glued onto both sides. I've read that people say it's a huge pain to take that foil off - I'd avoid that stuff.

Even if your policy covers a home haunt - an insurance agent told me flat-out that if you accept donations or advertise you will not be covered. :(

You have to keep doing many layers and let it dry in between. I usually have a fan running to speed things up. Also - to reduce those thin lines add a drop or two of liquid dishwashing soap to your tea-stain. It helps to break-up the surface tension of the water and the paint will 'stain' more and get into cracks really good. Here's a picture of the last stone I did and you can see that I did lots and lots of layers and different color transitions: Have you seen some of my videos?...

I'm pretty sure that's a picture of the blue foam (same as pink but different brand) and some white beady foam. But hard to tell because the white is dirty. They use foam to frame concrete but if it's what I'm thinking - it's the same stuff we use for tombstone building. The blue gets you more detail and is more expensive. The white is good for very old-looking stones (worn) and is cheap. If you were to go there - I'd just get the blue :)

Is Disneyworld's Liberty Square section about to go big on the Haunted Mansion? A new report says that's the plan: A detailed new article discusses elaborate plans on expanding the Haunted Mansion into it's own section of the park in Orlando, Fl. The back of the land is where the big headliner attraction now sits, in the place of the existing Liberty Square. After abandoning previous attempts to utilize the existing PeopleMover track and loading area, the Haunted Mansion building gets gutted...

WildFire is a top-end fluorescent paint and probably overkill for most home haunters. It's what I use and haven't tested much others except for Createx airbrush (don't recommend) so I can't recommend others. There's another company that many pro haunts use called Day-Glo and it's a bit cheaper, $102 a gallon, so that may be an alternative as I've heard some great reviews on it: http://www.dayglostore.com/catalog_browse.asp?parNbr=570 I'd also just try the tempura paints to see if it has...

Sorry I saw this so late. I looked over the info and to me it looks like it's basically exterior latex paint. The best I can figure is that Drylok is also an exterior paint that has silica (sand particles) in it along with some kind of chemical that allows it to attach itself to the surface you are painting it on via capillary action. What very much attracted me to Drylok is that it was already gray and had those sand particles in it. When drybrushing the sand is raised up and so you get a...

Terra replied to a thread Other: Hot Wire Haunted House DVD in Halloween Props
I got it years ago and learned a lot of new techniques. What they do is video the rooms as they are renovating for their haunted house. This was one of their first videos and it's a bit awkward but still pretty good. Now years later you can see a lot of these types of tips on YouTube but it's still a good and valuable DVD. Is it worth $50? ehhh... perhaps less but that is the price they are asking for so that is up to you. If you are hesitating - perhaps hunt around YouTube to see if you get...

I use DMX relay/dimmer packs and I also get occasional feedback. Was just about to start adding diodes/capacitors to the props. Sounds like this is a common problem. Here's an article at Fright Props: http://www.frightprops.com/faq/content/4/120/en/installing-a-dc-diode-for-feedback-absorption.html

Hello so glad you stopped by my page. I just got back from Home Depot and was ready to pull my hair out! I'm trying to figure out what pneumatic components I need to hook up a new airbrush. That stuff is CONFUSING! But I finally figured it out. Now I'm enjoying a nice fruity adult beverage....
