Biography:
Hello everyone! I love the Garage! I can't wait to soak up all of the twisted and brilliantly genius tips, tricks, and projects I possibly can! o=) As far as my haunt history, I have haunted since I was a kid. Halloween has always been number one in the hearts of my family and myself. My first haunt was the townhouse I grew up in, not much room to work with, but it got the job done. We moved into our "new" home when it was new, back in 2001, and have been happily haunting and enchanting the neighbors ever since, even inspiring a haunt war of sorts between a neighbor and ourselves! From what i've heard we're still the best, but anyway... o=) Last year a former neighbor, who is now a member of the home association for the area, asked me if my family could help her create a haunted hotel at the crown jewel clubhouse of the community, the big daddy! This place is a mediterranian style 10,00 square foot building with a conference room, large chef's kitchen, olympic sized pool, grand ballroom, elevator, terrace, and loggia. Of course we said yes! The only catch was we had to pull off this monumental task with $2000 and 2 months, without weekends due to the clubhouse being rented for parties, to do it. My sister, boyfriend, his co-worker and his family, and myself all signed on to build this haunt from ground up and we recruited about 50 high school kids to play various roles and serve food. While $2000 sounds like a lot of money, this money had to go towards materials to block out windows, so people using the facility while we were constructing the haunt wouldn't be able to see what we were up to, create blackout tunnels to enclose open hallways, props, lighting, and sound. We managed to scrimp, save, and Macguyver our way to success, even commissioning my boyfriend's co-worker's talented brothers to paint a couple of incredible panels for display in the courtyard of the clubhouse for people to take pictures, with over 500 people going through the haunt in the 4 hours we were open two days before Halloween. The success was short lived as we had to clean up what took months to put up in just a few hours as there was a wedding scheduled for the next day at the clubhouse! However, we're hoping to use the knowledge from Halloween Forum to turn our modest little haunt into an event to remember and fear! ^_-
