I'd have to do a full pumpkin. It would face the street, and ToT's would see it from behind. My idea for a way to get it off the grass.

How would you think to attach the chicken wire to it? I guess you could use wire to tie it, but wouldn't it slip? Does it bend without kinking?

The basic, foggy thought is to have arms or legs hanging out of or smashing through the pumpkin shell. However, I do want to also emphasize a Halloween tie in, which is why I mention a Jack'O face, or something.

I was finally forced into one of them crazy *** cell phones on Sunday. Don't know if I like it yet. Swipe this, push that once, push that and hold, then swipe and tap..... good grief.

It might be a bit early to start this thread, but I'm in the mood so I've decided to. My wife and I have settled on a design theme for this year based on the nursery rhyme Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater. The basic idea: Build an 8 foot wide by 5.5 foot tall (7 or so with stem) pumpkin with heavy undulations, build a lanky, skinny, seedy looking Tim Burton style character to sit on top of the pumpkin, eating a piece of pumpkin (of course), show his wife trapped within the pumpkin somehow (idea...

I have done some pumpkin headed characters over the last couple years that are similar to yours, so I'll share my experience and give you a few thoughts of my own. The biggest thing that would help you out (IMHO) is to fill in the face of your pumpkins with something for the light to catch and illuminate. For my examples my wife and I used tissue paper, but I'm sure you could use a variety of materials. We found red colored tissue paper to work the best. As you can see in some pics below, no...

Simple 50/50 water glue here, too. I finish with latex paint for texture, then color with acrylic. I've risked not sealing with varnish in the past..... last year it bit me.

I used a sprinkler valve to provide the burst of air to pop the heads. Normal pneumatic solenoids do not have enough CFM air flow to provide the needed lift. High CFM pneumatic solenoids can be purchased, but they are $$$. For safety, I encased the sprinkler valve in a plywood box. This was done to guard against catastrophic failure of the plastic valve as it is designed of water, not air pressure. No matter the type of high CFM valve you use, it will require an air reservoir/surge tank...

Key to a good scare is to have a matching distraction. They are looking for the scare so trick them into thinking it's the distraction. Then nail 'em with the real scare! :)

I like this. I may even skip doing a halloween display this year and try to tackle each and everyone of these. Be fun as hell to check off each one and have a photo for all of them.

Hi back :) No, I don't sell them but I often give them away. I always make one for the Secret Reaper and once for a prize with the Hauntcast Resurrection. The one tombstone you are talking about I gave away to a charity :(

I sure will. You all are like my Halloween family and love the fact that we are connected via the internet instead of by location. heheh... I called one of the utilities there to set-up the service and when we were all done the lady said, "Well honey, I'm gonna be praying for you. You don't know what you've done." Lol! heh... that is one state I want to explore more. We went to the cactus museum in Phoenix at nighttime - it was the spookiest thing! Very cool.

Thanks Ryan! Yes, hubby is excited and terrified at the same time at these new changes. My new job for a while will be to keep him calm. Looking forward to seeing the improvements of the joints. I thought they were awesome already. Thank you! This has been nuts but luckily these stressful changes are good changes. It's been crazy busy the last week - barely have time to check in over here at the forum and it's going to get even nuttier in the next two weeks. We closed on the Texas house...
