Just a quick note that I'm moved now from Hong Kong to Chicago, though I'm waiting in corporate housing while we close on a house. After we have a house, we'll ship all my stuff to it. I was working on my show controller and it was coming along nicely before I stopped before moving. It's been a couple of months now, and I'm getting itchy to continue, but my computer is included in all the stuff in transit. Hopefully, we'll be moved in after the start of September, when I can finish up development.

Just wanted you to know that I appreciate you sourcing me a DMX device, and I will be testing it out when development recommences. I haven't dropped off the face of the earth : )

I browsed through your user manual and was wondering if it would be possible to use the Medussa board in addition to an SSC32 controller. We use DMX to control some relays, dimmers and DMX lights and I have a feeling that Buckaneerbabe is going to want to animate some more stuff with servos. We're maxed out on the SSC32, so do you think the Medussa would allow us to add some more servos through DMX control?

    Greetings Hook,

In looking for DMX interfaces, I found your posts and would love to get my hands on your DMX input device!
    Thanks, Lon

    Hallow Hooked!

Yes indeedy - you guys are on a c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y elevated level of extreme techno haunting! Your posts are soo cool. I know the time is coming for our home haunt to bring in the fancy control items. You should see us running all around our yard each night - plugging in extension chords, turning on little battery switches and checking the power box in the basement for smoke! We have several sound and motion activated items, fog machines and visual dvd window displays - but getting it all to run from a central hub would be so helpful. Is there anyplace on the Forum that walks a novice through the techno world - gets them up to speed and even advises when and how to jump into using the computer systems and control panels you are talking about? Maybe by next year. . . until then... BOO!

LED Spotlight Kits

by Hooked_on_Scares on 08-09-2011 at 10:10 PM
Hey all, and welcome!

First, a mini, tentative update. Additional testing and calculations tell me I oughtta tighten up the use suggestions. Namely, I'm going to recommend these only be used with regulated 5V supplies. These should be pretty easy to come by, if you don't have one already. Secondly, I'm still staring down a design decision on the resistor values. Using these with a Medusa DMX (or other product using ULN2003 outputs) will be a little different than hooking up directly

Okay! Here are the scene/prop design submissions for the Medusa DMX contest.

Please leave a comment, and vote for your favorite submission!

In the order of submission...

I have always wanted to animate my Jack Skellington and also build an animated Oogey Boogey. I would use the servos to animate the heads for both and incorporate the LEDs for lighting using the relays to control the LEDs.

I would have them both singing

Design a Spooky Scene, Win a Medusa DMX! - continued

by Hooked_on_Scares on 09-21-2010 at 08:45 PM
Howdy! As my first (and only?) blog post, I'd like to summarize and wrap up the win-a-Medusa-DMX design contest.

My apologies to anyone confused by the way the contest played out. I wasn't aware there were so many rules here on this type of post. It turns out, there was nowhere on the forum I could post this, have people reply to the thread, and then vote on it. So, I'd asked everyone to reply directly in PM, and I'd post the submissions here, when they were all in. [and here
