I did a quick, late trip to the now-biannual Design Toscano warehouse sale. By Day 2 pretty much anything one would want is likely to be gone, but that was part of the plan. Still, I came home with a partial but still very cool Zombie of Montclair Moors for $7; a Grim Reaper tombstone missing the scythe blade and a few small dings overall for $5; a nice walking stick for $5; and a barely damaged steampunk skull for $9. ...

Dollar Tree also has plenty of things out for a pirate theme. Shell or coconut bras for skelly mermaids, fishing net in green and natural. Grass skirts can be used for roofs on huts or I've seen a Cousin It made out of them, just throw on a hat and glasses. It takes a few cause they are thin but it's cute when finished. I looked for the flamingos yesterday and the store I went to didn't have any, I miss them everytime they get them in. If you see some grab them cause they go really...

80s was a golden age of horror, American Werewolf, The Thing, The Fly, Evil Dead, Fright Night, Hellraiser, ReAnimator, Aliens (wait, or was it the first one....1979 nevermind), Return of the Living Dead, Near Dark, Pet Semetary, just sooo many, too many to list really!! Any of them would make a great theme.

Thanks for the link. Ah yes, Poltergeist. Absolutely! Although it would be hard to make one of those Gremlin guys. I did The Shining for my hotel party so I have to skip that. Oh my and Ghostbusters too. So much good horror from the 80s!

The hubby wants me to take a break this year, but it doesn't mean I can't brainstorm now for next year. I'm pretty sure I want to do an 80s party. Kind of a mash up 80s horror and pop culture. Does anyone have 80s horror Halloween pics or ideas to share? You'll help me get my creativity flowing! For now I'm thinking of turning my garage into a campground with Jason and showing Friday the 13th movies. In the front or backyard I wanted to have Michael Meyers standing behind some sheets...

So jealous! Just loving the pool and all that space to do cool Halloween themes! With Saturday Night Fever, there's so many great '70s horror you can tap into. Maybe you can incorporate some of those into a few of those spaces. Exorcist, Omen, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Phantasm, Carrie, It's Alive....

While I haven't received questions of that sort because of my love of Halloween, I do have a resource website for special needs kids with over 30 links on death. The info is good for all kids and includes explaining death, what to expect at a wake and funeral, how to do a nice remembrance with your kids and more. So if you get asked that, point them over to One Place for Special Needs and put "death" in the search bar. ...

I don't know of course but maybe a place called Shindigz. I know they sell backdrops or scene setters made out of gossamer which is thin paper like fabric. I think they sell some other ones too that aren't gossamer.

This is totally unrelated to the forum. I'm so glad I'm healing from domestic violence. Been concentrating on myself and doing things to make myself happier. This is why sometimes it's been hard to go on Forums because I always feared that he was watching me or stalking me somehow. Sometimes he would create accounts and pm me and harass me. It made it so hard to do anything because I always feared he somehow was watching me. Once he got a girlfriend, I knew I wasn't in any danger. Anytime he's...

This year I want to something with my time and be prepared for next Halloween. So I'm taking it upon myself to make Halloween Jewelry. Another thing I like to get into it making a scrapbook. Using Halloween sheets, halloween pictures I see on Google, horror movie themes, stickers and anything else that I can get my hands on. Borders around each picture, glitter: orange, black, purple, creating my own letters, quotes from horror movies and coming up with things that come to my head. I've...

These are just my first 2 thoughts & I've never done either one but if you don't want to use them for anything else or don't care if they're "ruined" maybe paint them or spray them with a matte clearcoat. Very good question & I hope you get a good answer.

Nobody has ever asked me about it. I've been obsessed with horror movies ever since I was younger and I often wondered about things. I've had friends who lost pet's and people who were close to them so I never brought up the subject. I've had people mention it to me at one time when they were trying to figure out what their purpose in life was and trying to figure out what would happen to them once they did die. It was a rather deep conversation and told me their theories on it. One thing I've...

I have been using photography backdrops from Aliexpress ... they come in 10ft x 10ft sections ... I have used these a few times and they work great. The best part is that you can iron them so there are no lines when you put them up. The first picture is of a castle I had just used last week ... it was only 8 x 8 ft ... but that was a choice ... the second is the wall I had for my Witches Ball ... 10 x 10 ft. and the third is one I have ordered for my next Witches Luncheon ... a cemetery...

Hi, Hilda! I would love to submit a couple of your fabulous yard display photos for this upcoming article, but I would not do so without your permission. I will take no offense if you prefer not to share, but your yard is so great. Let me know what you think!

Wow! Just like old times. I thought I'd lost that skill.

    Thanks for letting me know.

Congratulations on the limb removal. I was worried you were gonna be stumped. We've had so many in-laws visiting I'm thinking of putting my family tree through the wood chipper. I'll be here all week.

Looks like we CAN just scrap the stupid paint off the mirror. Just gotta figure out what nasty little tool is safest for the glass. (My keys scratch everything else up, figured it might work on the paint.)

I am shocked - SHOCKED I tell ya. You mean there's just a mere mortal behind the curtain?

We initially wondered about the mirror but we saw another one there which had a scratch through the paint and thought...How hard could it be? We'll mess around.

It's not so much the organ part. Just looking for some kind of material that would be flexible enough to bend around a corner while strong enough to hold it's shape. We could buy rolls of veneer but it's not super cheap and I don' t know how well it would hold up without a backing. But I appreciate the response. Hope all is going well.

Hey you! Hope setup is going well.

I got two questions for the expert.
    1) We bought a mirror from Micheals that had a skull screened on the front of it - we want to take that off. Seems like a real mirror (it's heavy). Would the stuff you recommend for removing paint off blowmolds work? We don't want to damage the glass (I think the frame is a resin.)
    2) Working on the organ...we're modelling it very loosely on the Haunted Mansion version. The wood curves in the area where the keyboard is. Any thoughts on what we could user there? You just seem to know stuff.

No worries if you're too busy with setup to reply. We'll figure something out.

Those bats are super easy to make
All I did was make a paper bat pattern and transfer the pattern to a light weight piece of black material, cut it out, then I just pinned it to the existing hummingbird body. Painted the motor and ground stake black, and BAM, done
Oh, I painted the hummingbird black too
    Thanks for your nice comments!
