Hi HeatherEve ~ I just took a peek at your blog ~ your gift boxes look so yummy and so creative. I was a lil' more reserved... I gave out lil' blow bubble bottles to the kids and 5 hr energy drinks to adults (that had "drink me" on it) ... Curious how your tea party scene came out...with the big tea cup punch bowl ....and your costume? Ck out my pics on my page here and in my comments I posted a video of the "down the rabbit hole tunnel". Was such fun! Let me know when ya post more pics to your blog. ~ Ani

Thanks S-Mama! I had a blast putting it all together, it is definitely a great theme to work with - very accessible to everyone, easy to twist into a macabre or keep light hearted, and so many areas to coordinate food/decor! I highly recommend it!

LOL I think you've got more done than me ~ well ...I have the Tunnel halfway done, the tea party spread halfway done and none done in the livingroom. I was reminded that I need to make a scene entrance outside LOL ...so guess I'll go with the Off With Their Heads sign and use my skull lamps that light up the path to the door Maybe put my Skely Queen of Hearts out there in the porch swing. On one side of the yard a mock chess design and a few cardboard cut outs of chess pieces staked in the ground. See this pic .... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...9/IMG_1114.jpg
That was a party done by Mandathewitch last year... I only saved a few pics from her party but the outdoor chess board was really cool, using "Mark it " paint that is safe for grass.

On the bathroom ~ I made mine guest like ~ jars filled with candy (eyeballs =chocolate and carmel. Gummy skeletons) A happy jack o lantern that has a flicker light in it and a mirror print (in my pics) .
You could do the blood splatter..and lean the qn of hearts ax in the corner ...or do something with playing cards all over the place. or quotes from AIW all over the walls and mirror or both.
Cant wait to share our final pictures ...fun fun!

Thanks Dani, you have great ideas! I got sidelined for a WEEK with a horrible cold, so now I'm feeling a little anxious about getting everything done - I have the living/dining rooms pretty much set, which are the Queen of Hearts & Talking Flower themes, the hallway is crazy checkerboard & clocks, and I have yet to work out the basement - got pink & purple plastic to cover all our bookshelves in alternating stripes, and have "We're all mad here" letters painted in pink & purple animal print to hang. Then the other half I've hung blacklights and made a huge teacup punch bowl for the tea party, I'm still working on making the most of it (not used to working with blacklight, not everything I expect to glow does!). Yes, I'm updating on my blog - thanks for the shout out

Found this card on Photobucket ...from Asylum in Wonderland party pics

Im gonna try to do a free hand ..then trace it to the upside down side... even if mines a lil off kilter (more like picasso) it'll still fit into the Mad Wonderland theme LOL

That all sounds really cool! Instead of doing all that work for checkers, you could always get a roll of plastic tablecovering - they make black & white checkered and you can find it at party stores, like this:

I'm so jealous of your arches! I wish we had a craft warehouse, I paid more than that for my wood to construct my mirror for sure. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I'm not posting a lot of updates on here, but I doing a ton on my blog - and costume ideas for wonderland too - http://HeatherEve.blogspot.com

I always take the pics before everyone arrives too LOL , last year I wish I wouldve got more,
The checkered sheet ~ well I originally thought how easy to go to a party shop and get several racing type table cloths but the checks are only on the side. I found this if you just want some table cloths ...
    http://www.mypapershop.com/39197.html
Im going to buy the plastic white tablecloths at the $1 store, tape them together on one side then take a square box, cut out the bottom for template and spray black squares on it. The box would hold any over spray. Cheap type of covering and can be thrown away after without guilt LOL

The tunnel ~ the plan. I will post pics end of next wk. I got from Craft warehouse (3) metal garden arches 6ft tall, 5ft wide (9.99 ea) Im gonna stagger them from the front door and wire them with jewerly wire to keep them steady and gives substance to the covering. Inside on the metal cross bars, I'll wire on motion/or sound activated items and ordinary household stuff. Since this will be in black and strobe light, going to use florescent tape to outline picture frames and some items. I got a motion activated bat, that screams and flaps its wings, and hedge monster eyes from Target. (it shakes whatever its attached to and eyes light up) Got 2. And also battery operated candles and candleabra. The entrance will be covered in hanging vines, and the end will be foil curtain cut in strips to represent going thru the looking glass...the floor will be black plastic over bubble wrap (to make sounds and feel weird) The covering could be anything black...Im gonna try again the good ole dollar store black table cloths taped together.
So thats the plan on those things so far .... below is a member here who did a AIW theme last year has some good pics.
