Because of everyone having their own computer, I have had people who were crossing the USA stop, pull off the road almost three miles to see and go through my house. I have been very fortunate getting "Free "Ink" from large circulation newspapers and magazines. I will never stop feeling very gratified that So many people know I'm here and have taken the time, spent their money just to see my place and enjoy it. Last night I posted on another site how my night usually ends here:I lock all...

I drew pictures illustrating every time I very easily could have been killed by doing stupid things. The first picture I was 3 walking around behind my Dad as he was building his garage. People were honking seeing this tiny child walking around on a half-built attic floor. I had climbed the ladder myself, Dad never knew I was there until he turned around much later. As I was drawing such pictures I became educated as to How Many Times I could have been killed! It makes a funny mural in the...

Unless the tornado siren a block away is "Screaming",or the town loses it's electricity, I am perpetually in the mood for "Halloween " and entertaining people who may find my house. One Winter night about 10PM a man pulled up here on his Harley in a snow storm, it was snowing , he had ridden from Milwaukee (4-5hrs. away?) I was in the Mood! I love having this certain odd "Fun"! that's why I have been open for tours of my house almost every night for 30 years! Plus most Sat. and Sun....

My House, Ravens Grin Inn, is Not" zackly' just around the corner from St; Louis, but I was on their way "Home" to Wisconsin ! They want to have a "Haunted House" someday. They have photos of their possible house and many would be jealous if they saw it. Maybe I or this house is scarier than I ever considered it to be? The one person ran out an Exit and was in the parking lot, which takes quite a bit of "mission" to accomplish, especially if it is your first time here! I gather them back...

Hey Nightfisher, Great display you have! Just watched the video. Do you have any posts for your front door? I love it and was wondering what it is made of? How heavy and how is it attached to the door?

Has anyone ever acknowledged the person that invented a motor controller that would automatically reverse once it sees a certain amount of resistance on this forum? I mean without him or her you would have to figure out an entirely new way to do any of this. I am all for giving credit or even asking before I use someones design for something but this is a public forum and if people didn't want others to use their ideas for something then they wouldn't post a tutorial on how they do it, they...

Yeah just a simple wiper motor run with a PC Power supply. Frame for her is PVC. Top arm is a static arm as a pivot ( not intended but but it actually makes her entire body move a bit giving it a bit more realism) lower arm is wire tied at the shoulder and the elbow to allow it to move freely.

I get great satisfaction from my happy patrons here. A few nights ago there was one young man in the group and the second I saw him my mind said("He;s been here before , and it was a LONG time ago!") At the exit at the house tour's finale I asked him how many times he has been to my house? He told his Dad grew up just 10 miles away, and that when he and his Brother were toddlers (3yrs old) Dad would bring them here all the time. "I have been through your house 100 times." (He's 30 years...

A friend sent me the link, too, but she also sent a thread with a recipe for making somewhat less expensive refractory brick. It's 2 parts fireclay to 1 part each of perlite, clean sand, ash, and portland cement. I have not tried it -- no first hand experience at this point-- but the person who recommended it appears to have some significant experience making forges and such. My plan is to try a few once it gets nice enough to take the mess outside. I intend to let the skull-bricks dry,...

I am betting someone could make something like this using the old Great stuff faux embers technique. Make the fire using skulls rather than sticks and make some holes to release smoke from a fogger or cauldron mister in specific locations around the fire to make the smoke effect. Could also strategically place flicker lights inside the skulls or other places to give it a realistic fire type flicker as well.

Legal liability is liability imposed by the courts through common law or by statute on any person or entity responsible for the financial injury or damage suffered by another person, group or entity. If you (or one of your insureds) is found legally liable for an injury, will the homeowners’ policy cover the loss? There are three requirements that must be met to be held legally liable: 1) negligent conduct; 2) actual damages; and 3) the negligent conduct must be the cause of the injury. When...

With most of my wiper motors and such I use PC Power supplies. Yes they run with 12V but they also have a 5.5 V wire and a 3.3V wire in them. When i rebuilt the power supplies I have one of each voltage wire that i can choose from. Seeings that i want things to run slower most every one i am using the 3.3V wire so i never seem to have a problem.

"Grrlgoye" I often say and sometimes do outrageous things to show people by bad or incorrect example. Much of my art work is also like this. I also like Irony. Now I must leave and wash my hair. I have them all nervous since they don't know which one of them will be drowned!

Even when i was a very small child I liked to "Out-Hide" the other kids.. I guess that was one of the reasons i liked Haunting, getting to scare people by popping up from the unexpected depths of some obscure rat hole! I had a Haunt in my Parents basement , I was in the JCs and built and ran that, now this is my 30th year of ownership of my Ravens Grin Inn and if I live to be 300 I would still love to be doing this. One of the reasons it has turned as good as it can be, seemed to happen...

We had some very remarkable audiences here last night! They all got to meet our new puppy, she is only 10 weeks old. She is supposed to meet at least 100 people in her first Month with us for her "Socialization", she is well on her way to that! The groups varied from a man who has been here over 100 times to an entire group of "First Timers" who have been trying to get here for many years! The Ravens Grin "Formula" is actually pretty simple.. entertain them, make them Laugh, then give...

there used to be two vastly different kinds of fire bricks, the very hard kind and the almost crumbly kind, very easy to carve, pick at, rub and make whatever it might be that you want, from the Crumbly style, the hard as diamond style--- not!

As my wife and i were talking about this today, she reminded me that the school administrator never blinked or said anything during the numerous times his little boy was saying over and over, "I was trying to hit "The Spooky Car!" This made her very mad. "Nice" example for the kids for the Parents to just Dummy-up when certain words should be said and certain ideals be shown the light of day. If I was throwing rocks at their car window, but accidentally broke out the Thermopane window for...

Just putting some on Notice". If you and your friends arrive here next Fall or Summer, there will be our new/old, no escape room. Would I really mean "Escape Room?" No, I will have a "No Escape Room" here. No one will be escaping, either. It is really simple and EASY! Bring along your "Power Of Attorney along with any property deeds you may have. A ton of people will be feeling very stupid, as they wither-away incarcerated ...

Today as I was gathering up numerous pieces of bad blacktop and getting rid of them and their potential for being thrown through a window in my house or my car, I began to run a memory check concerning all of the times someone has pitched a rock at my house and thinking about their up-bringing and their Parents possible influence upon what they did. First Time --Someone was throwing rocks at my Haunt- The whole large Family were all just standing there as some of their children were...

Nightfisher, I love this prop! This is exactly what I've been looking for. The added light is key, especially with that led controller. I didn't know those controllers existed - I've got to get one! Do you have a recommended supplier for deer motors? Thanks for sharing this tutorial. Really cool prop!

Gym Whourlfeld replied to a thread Prop Showcase: Tree of Restless Spirits in Halloween Props
It is quite a project to make a tree, let alone one that has a certain "Personality" about it! This sort is of off -subject but some may find it interesting. A retired man in my little town here has been collecting parts of real trees. The "Parts" he collects were inhabited by some kind of a parasite? Which made the normal trees grow around the Parasite, creating quite an imaginary scene of strange bends, swoops and tiny shapes which most imaginations have no difficulty "seeing" mini-worlds...

Quite impressive! Nice! The local Summer-Stock Theater here got the scripts for "Little Shop of Horrors" but someone forgot to send them the Plant-monster costume so they asked me to make them one "Right Now!" It ended up being a smooth round top of the head with a Gob of black wig hair along the back edges, kind of an obscured face that had one big horn curving upward from it's face, all Green of course, all looking very odd to say the least! I still have it somewhere around here? ...

One of the two couples who came through The Ravens Grin Inn last night took a nice picture of the top of The Spookmobile. You see the steel Skeleton reaching from inside the open suitcase on the roof in the luggage rack and he's holding an old license plate in one bony hand that says Ravens G." My Wife saw the humor in this picture right away.. in the backround, in the far corner of the City Parking lot is the small, Red, Santa House that belongs to the City... so someone may come away with...
