Ok you perked my interest with the monolith so I rechecked your pictures to see if I missed what you folks are up to. I see a couple teaser pictures of the contruction so I can't wait to see it finished in action. The note that you are sealing it to prevent "light leakage" means I gotta see an night picture? Good luck with the early decorating. I can't do it but wish I could. October surprises us with too many windy days and I'd spend the all of Halloween crying over broken decorations and props. Not to mention, I don't have too much faith in the younger generation if you know what I mean I was one of them too once upon a time...
Hallow Northrad! Forgive the looong delay in responding to your kind message. I have been out of town battling the aftermath of Hurricane Irene and trying to salvage a 2 week vacation with the fam. I really missed being on the Forum to be sure! As for this year's prep? As usual - soo many ideas - sooo little time! WE managed to build a new monolith for the center pice of our graveyard. It is nearly done. I am considering setting up VERY early this year - just to help make it a bit less stressful when it gets down to the wire. I'll let you know how that idea works out! LOL Now it will knuckle down and try to get caught up on all the reading I missed out on HF since I've been gone. Wish me luck! BOO!
Checking-in. Wondering what you've started working on for this year? I've been busy prepping instead of picture taking so it looks like I'm stalled. Weather has cooled so I'm really Halloween on the brain now
Hallow again Northrad! That Headless Horseman prop is cool, isn't he? He was for sale at the Frontgate/Grandin Road Outlet ( we happen to live near the only one in the US - or so I was told! ) with a very pricey price tag (orig. $600.ON sale for $300. STILL OUCH!) so I took lots of pics and hoped I could find a way to build one someday. (We have a HEadless Horseman in our graveyard - so this guy seemed to be a perfect indoor compliment to our haunt party. As I recall, the wires enabled the pumpkin to light up. He is a static prop and therefor does not move. I took the photo of the backside under his cape to show how he was made in two sections bolted together. The hollow back is kinda lame for that price - but it did enable me to see the construction. You are so talented in prop building - feel free to make one for both of us!!
Thanks for the nice comments on this year's "Mayan" themed haunt prep pics! Like most huanters, I hope I can pull off most my new ideas in time?
fantastic pics!!! You have nailed the mayan theme!!
