That is too funny about your granddaughter! My kids have grown up with all this stuff. I use to have a large, ugly, stuffed rat, my middle daughter loved it and would hug it whenever she saw it. Ahh, the innocence of children. If you ever come back to GA please let me know!! Would be great to say hi in person. Hey, there is always next year's Netherworld. We where in line with a couple who had a son working in the haunt but they didn't know where. In one room there is all this stuff and a stuffed arm chair. Suddenly the chair stands up and grabs the woman and says "hi mom". Too funny. It really looked like a chair until he moved.

Oh my gosh, I couldn't imagine growing a pumpkin that big, I will be happy to just reach the 400 pound mark someday. This year we got to the Topsfield Fair in Mass early enough to see alot of the pumpkins being unloaded. They come in in the backs of pickup trucks and also trailers and usually resting on layers of foam and some on mattresses. It is really something to see, love going to watch every year. Maybe someday we will actually be a competitor. I think my hubby took a few pics of the ugly winner, I will check and I'll send you a pic. Worked outdoors all day and we tired out, been getting the place buttoned up for winter. Tomorrow my hubby is going to oil undercoat both vehicles, he isn't much looking forward to that job since it is so messy but it will be a big task out of the way and it helps the vehicles last longer. That's nice you can all get together for Thanksgiving, last year my family had Thanksgiving a week late, it was really great since us three kids hadn't all been under the same roof for the holiday in a while. Even more special because it would be the last Thanksgiving with my brother Max. I was in Wal-Mart the other night looking at Christmas decor, getting itchy to start decorating already. I'll try and hold off and get through Thanksgiving first. lol Alot of folks in the area here are all decorated Christmasy, guess they took advantage of those 60 degree days to put up lights, much better then doing it in the freezing cold.

Halloween day here was gorgeous too, perfect weather for putting up last minute decorations. Our biggest pumpkin was 360 pounds, a real beauty and a pretty nice dark orange. Our one other pumpkin 'Max' named after my brother weighed in at 340. We don't take them to any competitions, we grow mostly for the enjoyment and of course for Halloween. The heaviest pumpkin at the New England weigh off in Mass was around 1600 pounds, it also one the prize for most ugly! lol Seriously it was, I had never seen the homeliest most misshapen pumpkin in my life! lol
Not sure of our plans for Thanksgiving yet, might see if my mom & dad would like to come over to my house this year. How about you, big plans for Turkey Day?

I'm uploading one today or tomorrow of our Día de Muertos altar, so you can see this beautiful Mexican folklore celebration. I'll be sure to share some pictures too.

Sorry you did not get to do your haunt, that's too bad. Always next year right? Our's was okay, we didn't have as big a crowd as we sometimes do, maybe with Halloween being on a monday and the 9 inch snowfall we got on Saturday night sure didn't help any. We knew it was coming o we didn't put alot of our props out and I didn't set up my graveyard until Sunday night. We finished carving our pumpkins around 3 a.m. Sunday morning. we stayed up most of Saturday night to keep the snow broomed off all the out building roofs so they wouldn't cave in. I finally laid down around 3:30- 4 and I never even heard my hubby outside snowblowing the graveyard area. Spent a good part of that day just removing snow, it looked alot more like Christmas here than Halloween. Will try posting pics soon, I tried earlier but had some trouble, said my pictures were too big or something like that. I'll try it again later. I do have some posted over at my FB page if you want to take a peak there.
Today it is a gorgeous day here, feels like spring. Been washing and getting my storm windows put on for winter, fun fun! Another busy weekend coming up getting the rest of the house set for winter then the next weekend we are hoping to sneak away to Maine.

BTW about the grandma vampire. A threesome came to the door, two women and a little boy about five years old. The little boy and one of the women were dressed like Dracula. The other woman wasn't in costume. After I dropped the candy into the little vampire's plastic jacko, I looked at the dressed woman and said, "And one for Mama Dracula?" She smiled and said, "No, I'm Grandma." After years of putting my foot in my mouth, I actually paid a compliment by accident. That made my night.

hi, well, this is the story of the Ada witch, who really isn't a witch at all, not sure why they call her that, well the story goes that she was cheating on her hubby, who got suspicious, and followed her one night, and found her with her lover. got so enraged he killed her, and fought with the lover, til they both died from the wounds,,, now you see a woman in white floating at night, some people hear fighting and yelling,,, and mists and orbs are seen,,, and people feel hands on their shoulders but no one is there, well, a few years ago my son and some of his buddies decided to check this out, said it is a very creepy area, saw some lights like orbs, decided to get the heck out of there, walking back to the car, my son heard foot steps walking beside him, turned to say something, thinking it was one of his buddies, but no one was there but could still hear the footsteps,... don't remember, but I think more happened, but I do remember he took off running,,,, scared the crap out of him,,,, if I think I will ask him what else happened...

hallo, so sorry your plans didn't work out this year. But you are right, we can all look forward to the next year, and the next!!! Good thing none of our stuff has an expiration date, huh?
