It's just blue foam board, which is super light, but did cause our door to creak, which was fine with me lol. I attached it with 3M fastener (AKA super velcro) and just peeled the tabs off the door after Halloween. Got lucky and didn't damage the paint lol. Here are the details on that project...

The thought has occurred to me that this could also be used as a means of just hiding the motor and using a much longer string having the spider moving somewhere else. Hmmmmmm...

Love the prop, Nightfisher! Might try to do a simplified version with a suspended, cocooned skelly overhead and the cheapie drop spider. Thanks for the inspiration:D

Man Who Shot Liberty Valance Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Lee Marvin, all powerhouses in an oldie but goodie directed by John Huston. Simple revenge plot, Liberty Valance being the bad guy played by Lee Marvin (of course) almost kills Stewart, Stewart wants revenge but there's much deeper things going on than just revenge.

This is what I struggle with as well, for lack of a better way to put it. We've been doing a haunt for over 20 years and we've developed a loyal following. We now have older teens and young adults who come by and tell us they've been coming to our house since they were young. Parents tell us how much they like coming each year and how they appreciate what we do to give kids a fun Halloween. I think of the void we'd leave if we just stopped doing it so hopefully we can scale back gradually and...

Thanks. I thinjk it was like $10.00 or somewhere close. I'll put a bat or a crow in it, something creepy.

Here's the deal. I always try to credit whoever I got the idea from. I'm not gonna backtrack and fact check every damn video I see to make sure I credit the original maker. I've had several of my ideas copied over and over without ever having credit given and never mentioned it because I'm not in it for recognition. I'm here to share ideas and enjoy making cool stuff. If you want to credit me for an idea, awesome, if not, also fine. There are much better ways to go about noting who created the...

A friend sent me the link, too, but she also sent a thread with a recipe for making somewhat less expensive refractory brick. It's 2 parts fireclay to 1 part each of perlite, clean sand, ash, and portland cement. I have not tried it -- no first hand experience at this point-- but the person who recommended it appears to have some significant experience making forges and such. My plan is to try a few once it gets nice enough to take the mess outside. I intend to let the skull-bricks dry,...

Doing little accent props for our witch house. Bought an old book from a thrift store. Aged the cover with paper mache and some paint/dry brush. Printed a couple spells off and stained the paper with a coffee filter. Set it on the easel I got on clearance from Michaels and it came out pretty fair. This will sit someplace in the main room of the haunt.

Kindy's has always been sold out every time I checked there. You buying them all? I try and pick up deer at yard sales for a few bucks, then yank the motors and toss the rest. Microwave turntables use the same type of motor, but it's only the motor itself without the plastic housing to shelter it from the elements. They are great if you need a smaller motor to fit in a tight place.

Good post and one I identify with. We had actually planned to scale way back three years ago. I was pretty much a one man set-up/tear down crew, and while we had ample help working the walk through haunt on Halloween, come 11/1 I was tearing down all by myself and it got to be a chore. Along came fellow haunter and forum member "lewlew" who lived not too far from me and who's own awesome haunt was on hiatus. We agreed to do a collaborative effort back in 2014 and while it took up less real...

Keep up the good work Gobby, you'll get there! Therapy of any kind sucks & hurts like hell sometimes, but you gotta do it & it does work. I remember my last physical therapy stint & when the guy was kneading my shoulder like I was bread dough I thought that if ANYONE ELSE attempted to hurt me like this I'd punch them in the family jewels, but I didn't do that. I just made faces, kept breathing & let him do it & it worked. So keep it up Gobby, we're all rooting for ya!!

Sure, no problem! It's interesting how the doll found its way from North Carolina to your location.

I found the name on that doll you posted in GSob=n&GRid=39635965&

(I'm not sure why, but the symbol to post links isn't showing up for me so I don't know if this will display correctly)

Although the death date is one year off, the month/day date is the same so it's likely her. Looks like she was from North Carolina.
