What a fantastic idea for a thread! Fantastic props so far. Favorite prop is my pet doggie:

So, we had a mystery pumpkin set. This is off a different vine than the one I was commenting on previously. So, these were saved from the green/yellow mottled mini pumpkins that were supposed to be JBL's last year. Now, due to how pumpkins breed, what I have here is likely a crossbreed between the mystery pumpkin from last year, and one of the other varieties. Most likely candidates, due to space of planting last year are Musquee or Cinderella hybridization, with Lumina and Sugar...

I'm wanting to do a video save the date and then I'm going to see if my son can make a treasure map (most of our guests know how to get here but we've had a few in the past that couldn't find us and couldn't reach us on our cells)...then I made a big "X" to display in the front yard somewhere lol

My advise for a first year: Focus on acquiring lighting and sound equipment with your budget. These, more than any prop, will become the basis of your haunt in years to come. Since your budget is going to be tied up in these, pick a theme you can do relatively cheaply. Of the ones you've listed, you can do harvest theme probably the cheapest/near free if you can get some materials donated/for the labor of going and getting them. Specifically to the harvest theme, depending on where...

/hides all the knives from Blarghity I actually like inflatables and it isnt the only thing I decorate with. My TOTS like them too :) Would be nice if they werent so darned expensive though. But it seems like our favorite holiday gets a bit ripped off in the price tag area. I mean, look at the lighting,, xmas lights start off at half the prices the Halloween ones start at. The inflatables do stay about the same in price point across all holidays though, so cant catch a break for xmas...

I bought one and saved some seeds last year, the 'children' are unremarkable, but that's kinda normal for how pumpkins breed. The one comment I have on the wolf is that it wasn't the easiest pumpkin in the world to clean. Real stringy insides.

I would rag on a deep brown color (maybe some shoe polish or liquid stain) and blend it to the black base (keeping the black as areas of the worst decay). Then take a new clean rag and with it slightly moist, sweep the rust color over the face. Or, if you want the texture to be dusty, get some cheap bronzer makeup in that color in ref pic and "highlight" his face using a makeup brush or paintbrush that is big and fat. Spray it with a fixative or hairspray.

Witch of Stolen Souls Spirit Halloween (sponsor) revealed their Witch of Stolen Souls recently. Their is some major positive feedback on social media so she may go fast this season. Personally I really like the animated details of the lantern. http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/Yj-Witch-of-Stolen-Souls/ What do you think?

Thanks, Spookie! We didn't bring our best camera on the trip with the chance of rain and all. But I did the best I could with a point-and-shoot camera. Well, my wife bought the wand and specifically asked the sales guy if it took batteries and he said no. I will look at it again and check to see. There was not a key in the box. I think all of the things that the wand activates are behind storefront windows. Some of the displays it activates are over in Hogsmeade, near the older Harry Potter...

Love the logo too, I thought about adding it to some of mine. I'm kind of wanting a few things people might notice from the movies...so far I got the Goonie key, the Goonie flag I'm making, I'm ordering the necklace thing from POTC too... Let me know if u can think of anything iconic (can b from other movies I just can't think of any)

It has a few more pics that I didn't post here if anyone is interested. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/DaveNTracy/library/Harry%20Potter%20Diagon%20Alley?sort=3&page=1 My wife and daughter were able to ride the new Gringotts Bank ride and thought it was pretty good. My wife did say she thought the older Harry Potter ride (over in Islands of Adventure) was a lot better. They got in line at 7:00 in the morning and finally got on at around 10:00 am. My...

This is the entrance to the "Leaky Cauldron" restaurant. My wife and daughter ate dinner there and liked it a lot. That dark alley to the right is the entrance to "Knockturn Alley". Unlike Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley has a roof over it, so it's very dark inside. Especially at night. I think there are three entrances to this alley and a witch stands at each entrance. They never smile. I guess they're not supposed to.

I agree. Three of the locations I routinely visited are closed. It seems like the places that carry Halloween stuff are all the same now. It's almost no fun shopping - the same 'ole, same 'ole.
