Here is the light test. Here is what I was originally talking about how it creates an uneven circle of color within the light. Second, here is what the light looked like after sanding the LED. I lost a lot of intensity... Lastly, I had some "Frosted Glass" spray laying around from another project and sprayed it on the lens of the LED. Still pretty bright and it minimized the halo effect.

Here is the LED. 5mm: Hooked up to 12vdc through these 2.1 mm x 5.5 mm Male / Female connectors. I added the male / female connectors to each light so that I can daisy chain them.

SavageEye started a thread Lighting: Help on LED Spots in Halloween Props
Need some guidance on LED's. I have been making new LED spots today and when I turn them on, they create a circle within a circle (sorry, that's the best I can do for a description). I have read where people sand the LED to remove the inner circle, which I did. The problem is that by sanding the LED, I lost a lot of throw and brightness. Couple of questions: Does it matter the grit of sandpaper? Is there a type of LED that I can buy that doesn't require sanding (and maintains...

Well... Being the OCD perfectionist that I am :( I realized that there was a better way of doing things and I can always make things better. In the case of the candles (and now lanterns that I a redoing this weekend), they had flicker bulbs in them that ran off regular 110 v electricity. This meant that I have extension cords all over the damn yard. So, I am rewiring them with flicker LED's so that everything can run off of 12vdc wall warts. This way I can run multiple props / lighting...

Just a note for those looking to run multiple LED's from one source... If you look at the video closely (candles), you will notice that the back 5 candles flicker at the same time and the front 5 flicker at the same time (I am OCD so I notice these things, nobody else has noticed). This (not knowingly) is because I wired them up in 2 series of 5 LED's. Something like this schematic: ________Resistor --> LED --> LED --> LED --> LED --> LED 12v (+)...

They are 5mm LED's. The tips fit pretty loosely on them so I added a dab of glue to hold them on.

Here you can see one of my skelly clowns with a piece of conduit attached to his back over one piece of rebar, a second piece can be seen by his right foot which is tie strapped to the rebar (this is to keep him from spinning around from heavy winds). Hope this helps.

I use 16" long 1/2" rebar pounded 8" in the ground. My props are all built with PCV or conduit tubes attached to the back or inside that slide right over the rebar. I've experienced 70+mph winds and have never had any prop blow over this includes all my fencing, tombstones and full size characters. I also have some of those light hanging props that are mounted on 10' long 1/2" conduit so they are several feet in the air (other than pounding in a couple extra pieces of rebar and tying them...

Looks like Darklight no longer sells direct and it appears that the distributors that do stock their products are high on something. I don't remember their pricing this high: http://www.techni-lux.com/default.aspx?tabid=12&searchtype=0&search=darklight&cat=All+Products What are people buying (if they're not making their own)?

If I understand the amplifier correctly. I can go from the sound output on my 3-axis skull PCB --> audio input of the amplifier --> a single 25W (max) speaker (that can be hidden inside of the chest cavity of my skeleton?

Thanks for posting this. I agree whole heartedly about the importance of sound. I have been using guitar amps for my 3-axis skulls only because I can get loud. Computer speakers don't have enough power to push the sound across my yard. Although I have been using these amps for sound, I can't stand this solution. Any recommendations?

Os, this might interest you, I downloaded an app from the Google Play Store, it's called FlipaClip, it's a play on those drawings you would do when you were a kid, you know the ones where you would draw an image on one page and then another on the following pages and you kept going to resemble animation. .it's fun, check it out
