Yup. It breaks down into 8 x 10 foot or smaller flat sections and a few 10 foot long cardboard tube or pvc masts. Light weight, and I break it down and store it in the garage each year.

I don't have a tutorial for it, but I do have some sketches somewhere of the underlying frame (no measurements tho). I stuck to that initial design pretty closely. The hull material is all old stockade fence panels I saved from when we replaced our backyard fence at our old house (yes, I moved the ship from Virginia to Georgia), and the main support posts were the old fence posts. The rest of the frame is made from 2x4s. Let me know if you want the sketch. Be warned, however, it's a heavy cumbersome prop. Mine lives in the backyard as a playground piece in the woods

got a special card in the mail today. thanks, it's sitting on my mantel with dutches. i moved the Christmas cards over to make room for them.

I took it slow so spent several months on the ship, and have added details each year. If you were on a schedule you could do it in a couple of months easy. Rain and wind are a real concern--anything over 10 mph and the styro is in danger of ripping...and rain can soak into the foam like a giant sponge...we've been lucky the past years with great weather so it's all worked out fine-- but the forecast makes or breaks the decision to put it up each year.

No, my friend is the only one who decorates on his street, and his neighbors first thought he was crazy, but have grown to accept it. haha. A few of us get together every year at a campground for "halloween camping" One set of guys get there a week ahead, and decorate non stop, then the other guy gets there on a wednesday, and I get there Thursday. The campground is called Baileys Point, and is located on Barren River. Its a real beautiful place, and the halloweekend is great. Once I know the dates for this year, I'll let you know. You can rent a site and stay the weekend, or you're more than welcome to just come down for the day.
