Lewlew and I will be doing our fourth collaborative haunt for this year. The theme will center around a witch coven. Ideas are going down on paper as we speak and small projects are underway. Dealing with a mask maker for a couple of nice witch masks. The floor plan should be finalized in the next few weeks and the build projects will commence in July. Much to do but it should be fun. Can't go wrong with witches.
Most of the things I do were poached from other haunters but a few simple steps; Age corks by soaking them in watered down black paint, or simply brush them with black and then wipe. Takes the newness right out of them. For the bottles I use a coarse sandpaper on some of them (60 grit works good) Kind of etches them and makes them look really old and worn. you can brush them with brown acrylic paint then wipe off. The paint will set into the scratches and give the bottles an old dirty look. For...
I have three of their props and was considering another purchase last year but they had a 30% price increase which put them out of my league. I also asked a simple question about the increase on a Distortions forum and Ed replied with a snarky comment so they lost my business. Nice! Glad I dropped in to see this thread. Been stopping by our local thrift shops too and have begun collecting some bottles we'll be using for this year's haunt. I've been making labels for some of them, aging the corks, sanding the glass etc.. guess this gives away our theme but what the hey!
You know I'm a fan of your work! Love the detail and vintage ambience you created. Having done a carnival theme in 2015, we know how much fun it can be and you captured it perfectly! Thanks for posting. Nice to have fresh eye candy this time of year!
