This site has some strange foods, including a vegan caviar that might work for you. The recipe has it made out of carrots, but if you used beets, it could be blood cells or drops of blood. http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2013/06/10-easy-molecular-gastronomy-recipes.html

I watched the movie about two weeks ago. I tried to figure out all the names in the cemetery, but couldn't quite. Couldn't find them on the net either. Perhaps if someone has the original cartoons? Or maybe the series has some hints. There's some obscure trivia!

Go to the HF main page. Do a search for 4shared as a single content type, and display via posts (not threads). There are 16 pages or so of references to files stored on the 4shared website, but be aware that many of them are no longer valid links. Still, you may find what you want.

Not for large sheets, but call pharmacists. Some medications are shipped in styrofoam coolers. Also, visit your hospital and talk to the INPATIENT pharmacist. Lots of hospitals use meds that are refrigerated, and in many hospitals, those coolers get tossed out. They tend to be thicker and denser than foam coolers you buy for beer, but also don't tend to be large. Just ask if you can pick them up once a week. If you know someone who works at a hospital, ask them to check the loading dock or...

The only thing on your menu that I would find edible is the veggie plate. Maybe a couple of the wings. These are your friends, so I assume this is the type of food you eat at their houses, and it is their taste as well as yours? All that fat, meat and starch! Too much for me, even at a party. May I suggest you make it a partial potluck? Let them know what you will have and ask them to bring something light (whatever that may mean). You might get more veggies, but you might also be surprised...

An 8-oz letter (envelope the size of a piece of typing paper) costs about $9 to ship, if I understand the USPS rate calculator. That's about L7 (wish I had a pound sign).

My husband has used 3M hooks for years in his hotel rooms (he spends LOTS of time in hotels) without any damage. I've used them without damage to my doors and walls. But the paint was always semi-gloss, I think. Ceilings aren't paint. I never thought of using them on a ceiling. Now I won't. I have not used them on wood finish either.

Welcome! I posted a few days ago looking for UK members. I'm in the States, but was asking about a board game called Halloscreem. I used to live in Suffolk (Brandon and on RAF Lakenheath) and in Norfolk (Watton). No replies, though. Yes, we have Halloween, but we keep trying to emulate places like Borley Rectory. Best of luck.

There's a board game, much like Cluedo, called Halloscreem! It's difficult to find, and I am curious about it. Does anyone have it? It's expensive for me to buy here in the States (L25 plus at least L30P&P), and I am trying to decide whether it is worth it. It weighs about a kilo.

Have to comment on my comment. Went to Amazon and read the reviews. Almost everyone hated the pumpkin pie spice Da Vinci syrup. So I must have had something else. Perhaps gingerbread? Or a different pumpkin pie syrup. Sorry.

Add pumpkin spice to coffee before you brew it. Add half-and-half or non-dairy creamer (it tends to be sweet and rich). Sweeten with brown sugar (and maybe a drop of molasses). Add vanilla by the drop (I dislike overdone vanilla). Or, buy DaVinci's syrups (sugar-free available too). Netrition has them for normal price, but flat-rate shipping. Their pumpkin spice one is wonderful. So is their gingerbread. I didn't much like their dulce de leche. Tasted like marshmallow, which I already had....

Written invitations that say costumes are mandatory, that the party will be filled with activities and games -- no time for idleness. Say that those in no costumes will be turned away at the door, and ask (in the invitation) for help from all party-goers in enforcing that rule. Yes, you have to invite them, but once they are in the door (if they make it that far), ignore them. Let them sit in the corner and pout. Or put a TV tray and two folding chairs in another room and let them have their...

diajoh started a thread Static: Gypsy Wagon in Halloween Props
Not my prop. It was recently added to Instructables, and I know several of our members are doing fortune teller, carnival, circus ... I thought this might be useful. The guy builds a gypsy wagon on a 4x8 foot trailer (like you see with lawn mowers sometimes). Pretty nifty. http://www.instructables.com/id/Gypsy-Wagon-1/

Witch is acceptable for a male. Look up the etymology or just google male witch. Just be male. You won't lose any mystique. You just have to look wise and scary, and ask the kiddies something like "You don't really think the only witches are female, do you?" (might be nice if this were accompanied by a scary sound/visual effect, LOL). It's already been pointed out that warlock means betrayer/oathbreaker. The theme will not get lost. Kids are a lot more flexible and accepting than grownups....

Marigold, you're a floral designer. I am sure you've seen (and maybe done) those mum arrangements that look like a dog. I wonder if you could do one like a skull? Have it as a "hidden Mickey" somewhere and see if anyone notices. Edited to add: I found something that isn't what I think I meant, but is subtle and might be what I actually meant. Scroll down the page and look for the word skull. It's actually a skull and crossbones, but as I said, very subtle....

Perhaps with your long, lank, hair you should add a huge, long, beard that is filthy, tangled, and perhaps has leaves, twigs and maybe insects in it? You're living in a cave, after all.

Regarding the scary easter egg hunt: I saw a load of easter eggs at yard sales this past weekend. You could have the kids decorate the eggs in a scary fashion as the RSVP part of the invitation. They decorate and return to your daughter. You fill the decorated eggs and hide them. Whether what goes inside belongs to the kid who finds it or the kid who made it is up to you. Make a few extras just for fun. So what if they are pastel? You can have a pale blue Frankenstein, right?

That sounds interesting. Atomic Mystery Monster. I wonder if any computer artists would do a series -- the Picture of Dorian Gray, The Cemetery from Night Gallery (Roddy McDowell and Ossie Davis star), Ringu (not a painting but would make a nice one, don't you think)? Sounds like a talented college kid could make a few bucks doing these.

Marigold, some ideas: 1) go to a thrift shop and get a vintage 60s suit. You'd still be a woman in a suit, but you'd be JACKIE KENNEDY cool. Carry a clipboard. Look up asylum admissions to find some interesting lists of why people were committed. You can duplicate it or get a fountain pen (or cut one from a goose quill) and write your own list to carry. 2) Go with a vintage nurse look. And have some large keys on a ring at your waist. 3) Lunch lady dress with a white apron:...
