I am going to put a zombie in a coffin this year I need help find a creepy mass produced mask that has great detail and not too much money hands would be good too. Im looking for something like the pic I attached something like that zombie if not then anything creepy will work. Ghoulish production masks come to mind and so do trick or treat studios.

Strong work! Love the designs and you really put some time into carving those out. Can't wait to see them finished!

Thanks so much! As mentioned, we had a lot of fun planning the carnevil theme and we drew from what others and done as well. The witches are just on hiatus and will make a comeback in the next couple years! This year's theme is going to be awesomely creepy and the details will rival those of last year. Stay tuned!

Thanks! Wow, I thought this thread was dead and buried lol! Went back and read through it again and it was fun to remember all the little details of last year's set up. Yeah, the kissing booth was a blast. The actor really got into his role and interacted with the guests while they were waiting in line. Lots of fun! We're busy with this year's theme now and have started the mock build in our secret warehouse!. A much darker and more sinister theme for this year!

Hi Spats! Always good to see you crawl out of the darkness and grace us with your class and insight. As usual you're on point with your comments. I'm guilty as charged with regards to always wanting to up our game each year and it can be fun coming up with bigger and better sets, scares, tricks, etc. I'm also looking ahead to the day when I can no longer do what we do now and have already made plans for a major scale back. As a kid trick or treating in the 60's, I can remember the thrill of...

The two in the entrance of our store did not have the RIP on them, as pictured on their website, but looked like the ones sold at Costco. Same gargoyle but a different design on the base. I looked on the back of them and didn't see a fog attacment fixture. I didn't even see an off on switch. I'll check them out better next time i'm in there. It's an impressive looking prop but not for $300.00

An Update: Earlier this evening my mother-in-law passed away. She'd been very sick the past few weeks and it finally took its toll. I'm still going to decorate but I figured since most of you were kind enough to give me advice that I should tell you.

Lookin' good B! I really like the decorative touches on the side of the carriage, also that you left the wheel natural. Nice contrast. Did you order one of those skellie horses from Home Depot? lol! This has to be in the running for most original prop of the year. The bar has been raised again!

Here is a link to our prop plans for our static kits. Prop Plans . If you are using regular PVC off the shelf fittings such as 45 / 90 degree elbows, you will need to add 1 3/4" to the length for each end of the pipe that would ordinarily go into a Spider Joint. So for the upper arms you add 3 1/2" but for the forearms only 1 3/4". Hope that makes sense? :D

Haunted submarine? Gee, how did you ever come up with that as a theme? Sounds really cool, though. I love what you've come up with so far. I spent five years on a real submarine and that was scary enough for me! :) You should look online for a recording of the sub diving alarm (the alarm that goes off as the sub is about to submerge) and play that occasionally. Just the sound of it would give the TOTs a good scare.

Ours is open. Stopped by today. They said about half the stuff they were supposed to have didn't come in on time. Store is in disarray; boxes all over the floor, only a couple animatronics working. Kind of a weird layout compared to year's past. The supply issues are nothing new. I'll go back in a week or so and hope they have more stock in. A lot of the same old same old. The gargoyles on the pillar is really nice but $300 compared to less than $100 at Costco! Really?

Here are a couple examples. The plain pvc frame is standard sch 40 1" pvc and stock elbows. It has a base so it stands on a flat surface but I can also take the legs out of the base and slip them over rebar pounded into the ground. The last two pics with the foam pool noodles is using the adjustable pvc spider joints from Spider Hill Prop Works, so the cuts are a bit different. I can give you the cut measurements if you want Let me know if you have any questions. also member Diabolik (owner of...

I normally take two weeks vacation at Haloween. This year it's the 23-Nov 5. Takes us a week to get the haunt set up. We do a trial run "friends and family night" the night or two before Halloween, just to work out any bugs and make last minute adjustments. The folks who come to this go through and give us their impressions and tell us what worked and what didn't. On Halloween day, we do final set up, bring out the good stuff etc. Since we have a crew of about 20 helpers, we have them come over...

PVC is a great medium to work with. It's cheap and has endless possibilities. What do you need ideas or help with? I would definitely recommend getting a PVC cutter or a hacksaw if you are doing a lot of cuts. I have the Harbor Freight heat gun and it has served me well. If you are looking for something specific for PVC, we might have or I can point you towards somebody that does. :)
