Thank you! Mine origanally started as a "budget" project too, but wound up costing a little more than intended. Happens... I did use plexi behind the letting in the sign. I found some at lowes that had a white translucent backing on it that I left in place. The problem with clear of course is that you can see into the box. So the letters are kind of an opaque white and then the purple lights make them purple. If you check my albums there's an extensive step by step collection of pictures from this project. There's one specifically showing the mounting of the plexi on the backside of the front...did that make sense? haha Good luck!
