Some people use boiling water to remove only problem is that it is very bad on the wood. Steaming it will work but will take some time because the cosmoline will melt like a candle leaving it sticky still. Since you bore brushed it and there is not much debris just firing it will clean the inside of the barrel.

Awesome! gotta love getting a new toy! I cant wait to buy another gun. The quickest way to get the cosmoline off is using a can of quick scrub if you cannot get any of that use automotive brake cleaner works outstanding and will have it off in minutes.
