oh yeah, it is a honey locus,, I think the tree I had years ago was a golden locus, not sure though, or maybe a black locus, haven't seen it in almost 28 years! but the thorny one is for sure a honey locus, the thorns and the pods are the same,,, I actually thought of a elf/troll/ Igor, which I sorta want for my lab, but the troll already has gross teeth in it. so probably not Igor,,, well, will keep thinking of it, I personally thing the theme is kinda dumb for a Christmas forum.. and I am not the only one who thinks so,, but , well it was decided with out a vote, so what can ya do?? hey, got a new Scrooge VHS tape from a store that sells records, cd;s old 45's and old movies, it is from 1935, and has Sir Seymore Hicks as scrooge in it ,, do you have that? was excited ! i will post it on the CFC in that thread later, but wanted you to be the first to know!
sounds like a couple of good finds. maybe you could use the blazer for the son of frankie. lol. it's hard to believe that cemetary is in a bad part of town, it has such nice stones. all cemetaries are scarey at night. i went to a woman in black last night. it was very good. i would like to see it again. i will probably buy it some day. so about that contest, what about a character that has 2 faces. one face an elf, the other face a goblin. finish your troll, then make it a mask to slip on that looks like an elf?

I will have to look up locus trees, I had some at the last house we were at and it had no thorns, or the big pods that I have,, they are cool in a jar, but are sorta looking more decayed.. getting browner,, I have a bit on silica in it to keep it drier, but a bit on white is on them too, will have to see how it looks to see if it is usable,,, there are more than one kind of locus tree, will check it out, the thorns are all up and down the trunk,,, lots of them,, thank you for the picture comments , the one tombstone with the stone flowers is cool,, that cemetery is cool too,,,, I took pics at 3 cemeteries, don't have all of them posted anywhere,, the mausleum is very cool, will have to see if I can read the name and get some of the history on it,, I would love to go back , but it is a scary place, in a very very bad area of town,, I can't wait for spring, will go to some of the others in town and take pictures, out to put more pics in my album!

yeah, the pod's have little holes in them like something burrowed its way out , they do look good in a jar, called them puffer pods or something like that, and the thorns I am pretty sure came from a hedge apple, they are wicked, have been poked with them several times,, have a jar with them in too,, call them Devils thorns,,, went to a thrift store today, got a long black skirt for a buck - will use it for a witch , a black blazer for a buck, was thinking of using it for Frankenstein, but hubby thinks it is too small for him, he should be like 7 or 8 feet tall,, and that it will be to small,, oh well,, will use it for something!!
i probably won't enter. there are always posting issues. when i entered the scary Christmas contest, it was so fun, but i had to have meeps make it postable. and when i was going to enter the logo contest, i never figured out how to post. i wouldn't have won because the one that did was awesome, but it would have been fun to enter. naw, i'll just sit back and vote. if i think of any ideas, i'll shoot them by you.
l, we have til like May 1st.. keep going to CFC, and posting a bit,, then you can vote too! Need to figure out what to make that out of, plywood?? it would be easier to make a wall plaque or painting, am not super good with a saw to cut out a snow man,, could always add lights on it I guess,,,well, will just keep the old thinking cap on! you ought to enter with a doll,,, you make them so nice!

oh,, exactly!! what I was thinking was for the Christmas fan club prop contest, which is something with 2 purposes, or multi use, was make a doll that one side is Mrs Santa, and the other was a witch,,, not sure how hard that would be,, my other ideas were a wall plaque that one side is Christmas and one is Halloween,,, or a out door wood shape that is similar, one side say a snow man and the other pumpkins stacked, or a witch or something,,, any ideas for me? any help is appreciated! not sure if I am even going to do something , but the dolls popped into my head for some reason,,,, thanks for the info on them!! you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!
