Good evening Junit. Just dropped by to wish you a fabulous weekend.
Lol, not a problem! I was told they filmed an awful B movie there a few years back called 'Closed for the Season'. When i went there was a rather full looking duffle bag inside one of the buildings but I was too scared to look inside just incase it was full of a few body parts...
Chippewa Lake Park..what beautiful pictures. Thank you so much for posting them. if somebody tells you that I have been lurking on your profile for most of the afternoon, please don't worry. I'm not a stalker..I just had to keep going back and looking at those pictures. The imagery..one could write a book, even perhaps poems if I had a fraction of the talents of some of the forum members who can paint pictures with words. Imagine..not so long ago. The sounds. the smells. The colours. If one were to look, in some long forgotten corner one could probably find some left over remnant from those times..a candyfloss stick..A candy wrapper..some trinket from a sideshow stall. Now the music and laughter has been replaced with a tranquil silence. The ironworks of the rides still stand like the skeletal remains of giant beasts. Stark beauty, oddly magical, even in the midst of death and decay. Thanks again for posting them..I daresay I'll be back soon for another "fix". Kind regards Baron S.
I uploaded some photos of the amusement park if you are still interested in seeing them. It was abandoned for about 30 years, I went in 2007. It is currently in the process of being torn down
Ooo..I didn't see the friend request! I am of course, most honoured to accept. Have a great weekend!
Good Morning Junit. You know, I often hear my Stateside friends saying they don't have beautiful old buildings. O.k...so maybe not quite as old or maybe not quite as imposing, but some of the old colonial buildings in America are very beautiful indeed, and in their own way every bit as eerie. Abandoned theme parks. Now.. That sounds really creepy! I'm thinking that one could have as much fun in an abandoned theme park as when it was fully operational! Best regards, Baron S.
They are beautiful buildings. There's not many like them in the states But we have abandoned amusement parks in their place lol
Good Evening Junit. Just dropped by to say many thanks for the link you posted on my "English castles and Churches" album. I'm absolutely delighted that some of the members on the forum have posted to say that they have appreciated the dark beauty of a place that I love so dearly. Seeing those photo's from the 1950's really brought back a lot of memories. Although I didn't start visiting Reculver until the early 1960's the place really had not altered in the intervening years. I am always promising myself that I will go back..unfortunately, as with much in life, events always seem to overtake intentions. Still...Maybe one day. Kind regards, Baron Samedi.
Thanks for the vote of confidence on my Lugosi figure. The picture quality is terrible, as I am completely inept with a camera! Leokowal has given me some tips to take better pics, so I'll try to reshoot it in more detail. I agree with you, the original Dracula and Frankenstein films are probly my all time faves as well!!
