Looks like you kids had a great time. But did you LEARN anything?!!! Thanks for the complements on the yard. It's starting to get a little stale so we'll have to get a bit more creative next year. Your apartment looks very cool and cozy - some design elements that look like they could be a challenge to live with, but they definitely make the place look funky (in a good way). The balcony looks amazing, but yeah - no fun if there's scaffolding all over the place. There's someone on the forums who does a huge display on their balcony every year, but I don't think it's really useable space like yours (and the weather there probably sucks so it's likely not getting used anyway.)

Y'know - maybe I've said this before, but it's great to see Halloween celebrated in areas where it isn't usually celebrated - obviously it forces you to be a lot more creative and original. I really love the silhouettes - I've seen that kind of thing before but not on that scale - it's really different.

So one question - if you're poking you're head in - which of the lovely ladies is you? You all so cute!

Hey, it's you! I was starting to worry. Glad you're party went well - can't wait to see the photos. Our party was good - pretty tame but all the right people came.

These short days are killing me, so I'm off to bed early tonight. Trade ya hemispheres?

Glad you poked your head in again - you been missed. Hope you have an awesome Christmas too! (I've said nice things to Santa about you so hopefully you'll get spoiled!

Hurry back when you have some time and I'll keep an eye out for your photos.

    Merry Christmas!!!

    Tom

Hey Ana! You alive? How did the party go?

A very Happy Halloween to you! (Psst. Pass it on to the rest of Australia for me. )

Hi Ana! Just wanted to wish you a great party tonight! (If I've got your time zone right. ) I'll listen real hard - maybe I'll hear that voice of yours. Good luck and have fun!

Ha! I told my wife about your "Yoda" thing. She can't stop laughing.

I'm a little stressed too. Decorations are still not up but that's not unusual for us. If they aren't up Saturday, I'll start to worry. (and my wife will start pelting me with rocks and garbage. She's a harsh mistress! )

I'm sure your party will be amazing, Ana - you seem like an awesome lady and it sounds like you got some good friends backing you up – that's the most important thing. AND word on the street here in Canada is that you've got quite the voice!! I'm sad I won't get to hear it (but I won't get to hear the others either, so maybe things balance out. ) How'd the pirate costume come together? We gonna finally get some photos once all is said and done?

Glad to hear you're planning to go bigger next year. That means you'll stick around here for awhile and keep me company, right? I'm naming you the regional Yoda for the Australian division of Halloween, so you've got a lot to live up to.

I'm sure you'll be a bit in panic mode from now until you crash on Sunday, but I hope things run smoothly and you have a blast.

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN, my friend!

Hey Ana! Well if you've got that many friends helping you out in advance, I don't think you can do any wrong. It's the people that matter most, ain't it? Great that your sister is helping out. We just got started building our monsters yesterday and it'll take a bit to build some momentum. Not sure how many folks we'll get for the open house.

I'm curious to see how you feel about Halloween on the other side - hope you have a great party though. Sounds like it can't miss.

    Hey Ana!

Nah, we're pretty small fish in these waters. (Our little village it probably the most impressive thing, but it's a lot of store bought stuff just put together well by my missus.) But thanks for the kind words. Prop-wise I've done absolutely nothing so far except make big plans so I better have a productive weekend. And we still need to decide what we're giving out for treats!

How are things going with you? When's the party again? Is everything coming together? You seem like a very sweet young lady. I'd love to see you on the forums more (although I'm sure it's tough if you're studying law - is school in session right now?) I actually lurked for a REAL long time before posting anything - I'm pretty shy by nature, but I've made a couple of really good friends here this year. BTW, what's gonna be on the BBQ? Kangaroo ribs? (<Me demonstrating my wealth of knowledge of Australian culture).

I'm a bit party-challenged, (actually everything-challenged) but if you need a hand with anything, give me a holler. I probably don't know the answer, but I've likely read it somewhere and forgotten.

30? Your just a wee babe. That's a lot of accomplishments by the time you're 30.

If you're gonna be true to the spirit of Halloween, I think a tight budget is key. It's all about creativity and making stuff with what you got.

Just saw this thread - might be another idea for your party.

Summer? I forgot about that! That is SOOOO unfair (although Halloween would feel pretty strange for us if it wasn't autumn.) We could have a foot of snow by Halloween.

You're probably a LOT younger than us (I'm 42) and a lot more outgoing so it's tough to say what would appeal to your circle of friends. BBQ and Karaoke sound like an awesome start. Are you having a costume party? Here it seems like the costumes and decorations get the ball rolling, and from there the guests mostly take care of themselves - I don't think I'd get too carried away overplanning - but I'm definitely not a party expert. We usually have some Halloween cartoons and crafts for the kids - it's nice to just have some visuals playing in the background, so maybe you could toss in some old horror movies or something. I think if you have good friends, you really don't need to worry TOO much.

One thing I've heard but never tried - there's that game where each guest gets the name of a famous person (or maybe a Halloween-type character) stuck to their back when they enter, and they have to guess (based on how the other guests speak to them) what their name is. Have you heard of that one? I'm sure it's not exclusively a Halloween thing, but it oughtta break some ice.

There are some serious party pros in the party section, so don't be afraid to bend their ears. There's a thread here...I'm sure you've seen it... on adult party games - it's been running for a few years.

Thanks so much for the friend request. Never had a friend from Australia before - weird because all I ever hear is how friendly Australians are.
