Hey everyone,
I'm very much a noob when it comes to halloween, in fact my family almost never decorated our house and we would just enjoy dressing up and going door to door seeing what kinds of decorations other houses had.
Until last year. One of my relatives were throwing a costumed birthday party on Halloween night and asked for help decorating the place and spooking it up, having never done it to our own house, me and my younger sister jumped at the opportunity. Being the creative geniuses that we are, we decided to do a haunted walk-through from the garage to the front door, about a 50 foot walk.
Well we decided to do this about 3 weeks before Halloween, and only the weekends to work on it, we had no props, decor, nothing. So as you can already guess we were scrambling, rushing to get everything done the day before and the day of. Rookie mistake. Who would have thought lighting and sound would take so long to set-up right?
So long story short, we finally get it in working condition 2 hours after the promised time and our family loved it, every scream just brought a smile to my face and we were receiving compliments about how great it turned out and how scary it was. I was very happy with what we accomplished, made it worth all the hard work for sure.
So jump forward to this year, my sis and I wanted to do it again, this time bigger, and longer than the 20 secs the last one was, no party was being thrown this year so we decided to throw one ourselves at our own house, with the haunted house as the main attraction, even opening it up to all TOT's for the big night.
Now I introduce you to our haunt, La Puerta Del Diablo, The Door of the Devil for you non-spanish speakers, it's a tribute to an attraction of the same name from my native country El Salvador. I'll be posting pictures of our progress here as well as getting a vlog going on youtube for all to see.
So that's it, sorry for the long post, but it's my first one and I had alot to get off my chest. Until I found this forum I never knew about this secret culture of Halloween enthusiasts, I'm sad it took me this long to get immersed in the spirit, but looking forward to getting to know the people of this awesome forum and talking Halloween year round with y'all.
