Hello Everyone.
My story-
Did my first Halloween Party back in 2005... It consisted of little more than the furniture moved out of the way; a couple of strobes and red bulbs and a few lame Target decorations. We still had a blast (about 25+ of us)- the seed had been planted.
2006 and 2007 Got bigger and bigger. More Money, better props, more time spent in preparation. Local News station came by in 2008; the party was really getting big as far as scope/props/design/planning/etc.
2008: The biggest one yet; by this time I had close to 20,000 worth of props; the party was legendary. Entire house, backyard, garage and carport out back were done up. Crows peaked at close to 200 people. Great Sucess! By this time all my props were taking up an entire room in my converted garage (about 12 X1 0feet packed to the ceiling!)... It had gone from buying cheap spider webs at Target back in 2005 to paying over $500 for a single large prop. My collection was vast... BUT...
2009: I was off (off work) between April-August (4 months total) in 2009 in between jobs (my choice to take the time off and do other things). During this time I decided to sell almost all my props (including high end props). I sold probably about 90% of my props to raise $$$ so I would not have to touch my savings during my time off; I was able to finance three lake/coast trips with the money I raised (a small fortune). I had no intention of doing a party in 2009 (I knew I would be adjusting to my new job). I thought that the BIG party in 2008 was probably going to be the last one (the invites even stated "The Final Chapter")... But as we all know; Jason never really dies- he always comes back!!!
THAT brings us to this year now today. I do actually have deep regret about letting go of all my props. I would NOT do it that way if I had to do it all over again. I have decided to do my Halloween Party this year; it feels weird not to have all the years worth of props/effects/lighting ready to go. I am not starting from scratch; but it sure feels that way!!!
I am more motivated thatn ever; the months away from work REALLY helped recharge my entire life. Glad to have found this forum; Anyone else here from San Antonio??? I do have some of the picts from the huge 2008 party over at my facebook page.

Welcome Craig! I sense the regret in your post but at the time you did what you had to do. There are so many talented haunters here with how to's on making props. There is something said about the pride you get when making a prop yourself.......
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before

Hi Craig,
Welcome! I am from Schertz. I love your facebook pictures and I see we have one friend in common on Facebook. What a small world!
We have a Halloween Party every year. I wish I had your creative mind. I am a work in progress. But I am hoping that you will share some ideas with me.
Take Care,
Colette
