Joe from just north of Houston. My wife (baboomgirl on here) and I are taking our halloween display to the next level for 2010. She's a bit more into it than I am however, all of her big ideas seem to involve me having to do work. Not sure how that worked out but whatever.
Last couple of years has been a static display with 4 or 5 smoke machines and a few of my son's friends dressed up as something to scare the sh!t of of older kids.
This year we're adding in some additional static props (however, we're actually spending some time on them) and some air power.
The first project with air is automating our casket (yes, a real one)to open and have something pop out of it. I've got the thing almost working properly, just having to adjust pressures to make sure that I don't break the lid off of the thing. I'm also going to have a smoke machine and a few small strobes (from my xmas light display) in there as well. I'll sync it all up with a boobox or something like that and have a PIR trigger.
I have no idea how much I've spent at frightprops and monsterguts in the past 2 months but it's probably a lot more than I'll ever actually admit to spending.
I'm also big on having fun at xmas. Last year we had around 30K lights, this year will be around 35k or so with 80 channels of automation.
